Took a mountain of paperwork and went to Vicroads today. And now Erik is all official and registered and has some nice new plates! I had them do a check on his chassis and engine numbers and no history Australia wide. So either he's had a rego so long ago it's dropped off or he's never been registered before now!
Stand back Melbourne, two Haffies will be rampaging around now!

More Haffies!
-
Saw many more Haffies and a real rarity, an ex ADF Army trailer. Only 50 were made for the Army back in the day. Very few exist now.
-
Went into town for some brekky. Very oddly found a Chevrolet Blazer that was right hand drive. What the? What is that doing here?
Wandered back, Erik had passed his road worthy!
-
Saw another old car, on a flatbed. Delivered Erik for his road worthy and had a poke around the yard.
-
Towing Erik, we stopped for a drink at a petrol station. As usual, lots of weird looks.
Saw an old car in one town.
-
And a few drone shots because why not

Picked up this pile of parts aka Arnie the Haflinger, having had all its rust and paint and anything else cooked off it.
Guess we'll be doing some painting soon.
-
Took Harry and Roger to a car show today, photos of that coming soon. Did a little detour on the way home, into a semi demolished site. Seemed a good spot for photos of the boys.

Looks like the herd's going to expand

This is what we got. an ex PMG (Post Master General) canopy. Apparently used in Tasmania, we will do some research on this. Possibly the only one to exist?
-
This chap we saw has some Haflinger canopies for sale. Including a long wheel base one like what we have for Erik. And a fibreglass cabin. The LWB one is extraordinary. Made here as a custom job, I can't even find a price for it, it's just listed as POA on the parts list I have from the day. They only sold 15 LWB Haffies here, there weren't many made.

Turning a Pinzgauer 6×6 Into a Go-Anywhere EV With Mountainous Torque Isn’t Easy
Converting the old military vehicle has been anything but straightforward
-
Now the oil cooler has sprung a pin hole leak so time to clean up another one and install that.
Also better install the muffler, he's very loud right now.
-
Took Harry the Haflinger to Battery World today to get Frank the Passat a new battery as his was a tad knackered.
-
Saw two Haflingers today. And a piece of Australian Haflinger history: a period sign used to advertise them at events back in the day.
-
Took Harry to the egg farm this morning because why not.
-
Random Haflinger photo of the day.
This is a long wheelbase like Erik, and lives in Austria.
Love the safety chain for the rear passenger.

Metal work continues. This is an engine cover, which goes on the back of a Haflinger. Some rust in the bottom edge, currently fixing with new metal.
The flap is for cold environments, like snowy Alps, to drop down and reduce hot air loss. Not very applicable here.

Found a photo of what the factory looked like back in the early seventies!
-
Took Harry on a pilgrimage this morning, to where he was first assembled, from parts sent from Austria, to a little factory in a suburb of Melbourne called Springvale. The factory is still there. This place managed to assemble around 800 Haflingers in the 60 's and 70's.

Harry's big brother turned up! The Pinzgauer! The owner built this out of two wrecked ones, took over ten years. Looks amazing.
