I'm trying to watch some legendary 80s movies that I have forgotten about (or never seen before). Recently, I've picked up "Stand By Me": a group of friends set out to find a dead body. I don't know which bits were just 1950s nostalgia (as seen from the 80s). But it sure has a unique flair. And a lot of strange bits: kids walking a whole summer day with raw meat in their backpack to enjoy meatballs at an evening camp fire! A side story about barfing up blueberry pie.

I been re-watching ‘Stranger Things’, to prepare to for the show shutting down. Like the show, but it seems almost like a ‘Steven King’ knock off, more so with every sense begun. I also love the original ‘Twilight Zone’ best SciFi stories ever made, better than any TV & Movies ever made. I cannot tell you how many timesI have watched them, but give me $100 each episode I have watched & I would become the richest person in the world. I really liked the original ‘Amazing Stories’ as well. I liked all the remakes of both series that followed.

So, here is my idea-

Create a TV series that takes ‘Steven King’s stories, mostly the books, & makes at least one-entire season out of each of his stories. Maybe, need to increase seasons’ at least 1+-Hr. episodes to at least 20. Maybe, even do more than 1-‘Steven King’ stories at a time, already doing that for other famous authors.

What "IT: Welcome to Derry (2025)" does really well, is to take tropes of locations and places, that are considered safe, and make them into places of horror.

It does the same with people. Usually, in horror films, kids are the ones who are spared. In this series, not so much.

So, what makes it unnerving, is that nothing feels safe. Everything, everywhere, all the time feels threatening. Which imo really reflects the tone of the source book, "IT (1986)".

Time for #OffTheBacklog - it's #StevenKing 's #TheStand as an unabridged audiobook based on the 1990 "Complete & Uncut Edition". At 47 hours and 47 minutes, this audiobook is a commitment. It’s a fantastic book, and Grover Gardner’s narration is the best I’ve heard, save for the frequent mispronunciation of Nevada. (Remember, Nevada sounds like "Had Uh" not "Odd Duh"). I won't do any spoiling but I will say even if you've seen both adaptations there is plenty here for you and it's way better!

This is just an generative image, but I can only imagine a real Studio Ghibli take on "Stand By Me".

It is a perfect slice-of-life story, with just enough dark elements.
