Like Paddy Ashdown, Steve Wright will be remembered for exactly one joke.

    Happy birthday, Steve Wright's joke.

  3. Yesterday was Steve Reich’s birthday.

This is my favourite (extremely niche) dad joke.

  4. So,

What did #SteveWright die of, then?

.....Assuming it's not too soon to ask

  5. A tribute to Steve Wright, explaining why he was such an artist on the radio, and why he didn't really do many game shows - but I've found one anyway.

  6. I remember I used to rush home from school on an afternoon to listen to the #SteveWright teatime show.

I got into Tubular Bells purely because Steve Wright had Mike Oldfield in one afternoon promoting Tubular Bells 2!

  7. I won't claim to be a big radio guy, but fuck the loss of Steve Wright sucks. His voice just....that's *the* voice I hear when I think about Radio in the UK. Real shame we won't hear it further.

    RIP.

  8. @johnhowesauthor Two words: serious jockin’ (no g). He will be missed. #SteveWright

  9. Sad to hear of Steve Wright's death today. Not a DJ I honestly particularly liked but his voice and shows were the background to many large DIY jobs around the house when we first moved in so he'll always be associated with good memories.

  10. RIP #SteveWright you provided the sound track of my youth, and the accompaniment to my long drives from Milton Keynes.

They don't make them like you anymore.

  11. Shocked to hear about the sudden death of #SteveWright. My parents had Radio 2 on around the house all the time and his 5 o'clock jingle on The Big Show will always be synonymous with that time of the afternoon. RIP 😢

  12. ⚫ DJ #SteveWright, who presented programmes for #BBC #Radio1 and #Radio2 for more than four decades, has died at the age of 69

His family confirmed his #death "with deep sorrow and profound regret" in a statement on Tuesday

#Wright joined the #BBC in the 1970s and went on to host the afternoon shows on #Radio1 and #Radio2

He also fronted television programmes for the #BBC, including #Top_of_the_Pops

  13. Steve Wright's presenting style may have been cheesy and, dare I say, stale towards the end of his #BBCRadio2 Big Show, but he was undeniably a huge force in British broadcasting. He'll be missed.
