POLL TIME!
My mom loved Stephen King's novels. Two in particular: The Stand and Needful Things.
I've only tried reading one—Pet Sematary—and I... found it lacking. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance, or I went into it thinking I'd be scared from the start and I wasn't. At all. Either way, I DNF'd.
But this year, to honor my mom, I want to read one of her two favorite Stephen King novels. So, which one should I try?

The 1st season (2017) of “Mr. Mercedes” on #netflix was great 👍
Horrible story (it’s a #StephenKing adaptation), excellent acting, good pace, tolerably gore: high on murder mystery and low on horror.
But I don't think I will watch the next two. The first episode of season 2 was terrible. Sluggish and badly patched up with some elements of season 1 but with a different (and bland) vibe. I skimmed the summaries of the rest of the episodes of seasons 2 and 3, and it was not appealing.

Creepshow 2, which is easily found on free-with-ads streamers, would be considered more of a classic if it wasn't for the fact that the film just looks so flat and featureless compared to the original. 2/3 of the shorts in the anthology stand among the first, they just lack a bit of character in the cinematography despite hiring the actual cinematographer from the original (who had also been one of the better directors on Tales from the Darkside). Some will argue The Raft segment ranks alongside one of the best in either movie.
