So it seems Steins;Gate, the Visual Novel, is getting a remake with some new scenes added. I'm a bit skeptical that it's just a remake, especially given that... well, didn't they make Steins;Gate Elite a few years ago that functions as one, as well? And with a time travel story you can very easily mask it as a remake, while it's actually a different timeline that somehow ties into the main plot.
Isn't that what they did the FF7 remakes? I'm not sure, didn't play the remake or the original, but I think that's what I heard about it: advertised as a remake, was actually quite different.
But that being said, I don't know how to feel about the possibility of an actual new timeline being added. Steins;Gate 0 was neccesary in order for the True Ending to be canonically possible. But I worry about adding anything else, because now, truly, the story feels complete, and anything new would just feel unneeded and risks screwing something up. Steins;Gate is in my Top 3 favorite anime of all time, so that's why I'm worried.
