Tonight I played #SteamWorldBuild . It was alright. About 7 hours to complete the story, and I think that's about the right length for the mechanical depth. There's more maps, but I feel like I've seen everything. It's on the easy side, no lose condition that I ever saw, just a matter of how fast you can build the linear sequence of things. Good night of gaming for the 5$ I spent, but I would be disappointed if i had paid anywhere near the full price of 25$.

@andycarolan I'm enjoying great success with Whisky, on a pretty high-end Mac. (It's a Wine wrapper, similar to others like Crossover, which also enjoys a pretty good rep.)
I just created a Whisky 'bottle', installed Steam in it, and then started installing games - far from 100% success, but a lot better results than I was expecting. #PerAspera #EvilGenius2 #NewCycle #TeamFortress2 #HardSpaceShipBreaker #SteamWorldBuild #Oddsparks all worked.

Was really interested in Steamworld Build, but the reviews pointed out this bit of the license agreement, so I'll give it a miss.

I had a great time building my mining town and progressing through the story of #SteamWorldBuild. I wish the story was a lot longer though...it didn't take me long to beat it. I'll just work on beating the different maps in the game since I really enjoy the concept of the game.

I've always thought it would be cool to play "symbiotic" games, each having different mechanics while also sharing an ecosystem. E.g. I play City Maker Tycoon by SomeSoft and build cities, while my friend plays by Urban Shooter X by TriangleWare, which takes place in--and can affect--the cities I build.
#SteamworldBuild is a neat example; it feels like two games in one. Part of me is playing SimCity while another is playing Dungeon Keeper.

Just tried out the demo for the #SteamWorldBuild #Game. I intended to give it a brief look after work before heading to bed, but I blinked and had completed all the demo had to offer. Not because it was short per se, but because it was so engrossing and charming. A nice take on the City Builder genre with all of the charm the Steam World games usually have to offer. Definitely looking forward to the release of the full game.
