  1. Yesterday I learned that the Steam Controller updater needs the "USB Modem (CDC ACM)" driver installed on Linux.
    (CONFIG_USB_ACM in the kernel config)

The error message in the GUI is generic (and therefore: useless), and even if one runs the updater on the terminal, the error message is not very helpful:
""No device with serial number: FXB99548004DD found in BL""

Luckily someone managed to find the relevant syscall using strace:
    github.com/ValveSoftware/steam

  5. It's great to see the
:steam: Steam Machine come out, Sadly a lot of people won't purchase it due to the price but luckily the Steam Machines code is now out there as well.

I know I've been talking to my mum about getting into gaming especially as it would allow for us older kids to maybe do a gaming night once a month or every other week with her. She asked me to tell her when it comes out and sadly it's more pricy than we both thought but she is still tempted as it means she doesn't have to do all the stuff with a PC but can always use it at one when she isn't gaming with us kids online.

Funny thing is, so am I. 😂 My "gaming machine" is actually... a 7 year old midrange desktop, I think? I also don't do TV. Most of my servers are old hand-me-down laptops other people were giving away running on power generated by our local renewables.

That's why I'll probably skip getting a Steam Controller, although I like the idea, as I have my old XBox controllers. I'll probably also skip the Steam Machine, as I have a desktop. The one thing I don't really have an serviceable equivalent for though, is a VR headset. Gah! What's a self respecting enviro-tech-nerd to do?

I do still *like* the idea of all 3 together, even if I probably won't actually *buy* all 3. Lol.
