This is the second complete run through of the programme I’ve done. The first was on Netflix, this one due to me buying the entire programme. For me, this is the best #StarTrek. Not because of Nana Visitor (although HUBBA HUBBA!), nor because of Faith Salie (who is fantastic), but they definitely help.
What works for me is the politics of the story. Plus the love of the characters for each other. I want to live in that world.

At least in this scene, maybe even from ST:TNG on, the writers of #StarTrek conceived of the Klingon Empire as a metaphor for the USA.

Watching the #StarTrek #Enterprise episode with the #Ferengi.
IIRC it was a terrible episode, but I like how we get to hear their native language; not sure we've heard that before, except for perhaps a bit in the Little Green Men episode of #STDS9?
Not sure though if it originally aired with subtitles for the spoken Ferengi? The English (CC) subtitles on #Netflix seem to omit it at least... -

Also, #STDS9 has given @nocontexttrek some of the best Alt Text content in the Fediverse, specifically describing the mighty colossus of Miles O’Brian, he of the brobdignagian capabilities who strikes fear in the collective souls of Section 31.

Some of the most political, character-driven, and certainly intelligent Star Trek is found in #STDS9. Its mix of what it takes to build a new system of governance — even when under an outside group’s guidance — is fascinating to watch, as is its view of humanity.
Yes, it was SF, but that was always the box it came in, not its contents. People are what make great stories, and that’s what this show had in surplus: great people.
Highly recommended.

Yes. Yes, I did rewatch parts I & II of "Past Tense" from #STDS9 . Felt very much appropriate to do so, at this time, considering the "future" and "past" events depicted occurred over the past five days. Pretty cool to live through those actual calendar days as written nearly thirty years ago.
It does seem elements of that writing have taken place, especially over the preceding five to ten years. Next up: TV as a form of entertainment not lasting much beyond 2040... #PastTense #StarTrek -
