St. Boniface, originally Winfrid, was a monk and missionary who brought Christianity to the Germanic tribes. Sent by Pope Gregory II in 716, he famously felled the Donar Oak, demonstrating faith's power over paganism. He built churches, organized the Church, and became an archbishop in 732. Despite dangers, he continued his mission until his martyrdom in 754.
