  1. #DailyBloggingChallenge (001/10)

In the past I have been quite fruitful with daily challenges. Successfully achieved the 50 day #StatisticsChallenge and slowly creeping up on 365 day mark of the #MappingChallenge (@barefootstache) with less than a month to go. Thus, I will attempt the daily blogging challenge.

The requirements will be quite simple for the begining and might expand through time:

    • It must use hashtag (XX/YY) format. This has two benefits:
      1. One can follow the hashtag thereby potentialy creating its own atom/rss feed.
      2. One can filter out these posts if unwanted.
    • It must be post ready before slumber. This puts the focus on writing rather than publishing and gives a grace period if no internet connection.
    • If written on mobile, it must be written with the #8pen keyboard.
    • It must be at least one paragraph or three sentences long.

This challenge was sparked after reading the article

    written by @skwee357.

  2. #StatisticsChallenge (54/100)

The second portion of the challenge has finally started today. This part includes that a requirement is at least one practice problem or 25 min of reading. Also might start tracking the time spent during such study sessions and hoping to see at least 100 min effort per day on average.

    Summary:

    Class: 2

  3. #StatisticsChallenge (53/50)

Things not to do is wait for the last 7h to turn in the homework… well that is one way to do an all-nighter. Will be skipping class that would have started in 3h.

    Summary:

    Homework: 1

  4. #StatisticsChallenge (52/50)

Getting the last parts of homework done.

    Summary:

    Homework: 1

  5. #StatisticsChallenge (51/50)

Still using the old system, so still homework.

    Summary:

    Homework: 1

  6. #StatisticsChallenge (50/50)

That concludes the first 50 days of the challenge. It will be extended by at least a month, since that’s when approximately finals are. For the second portion, I will probably add additional criteria.

    Summary:

    Homework: 1

  7. #StatisticsChallenge (49/50)

All tutorium notes have been completed.

    Summary:

    Notes: 1

  8. #StatisticsChallenge (48/50)

At this pace I should be finished with the notes by the weekend.

    Summary:

    Notes: 1

  9. #StatisticsChallenge (47/50)

Finished all the Tutorium notes for Statistics 1. Now I get to do the same for Probability Theory and Inferences.

    Summary:

    Notes: 1

  10. #StatisticsChallenge (46/50)

The notes are a quite nice reminder of the material I did before the break.

    Summary:

    Notes: 1

  11. #StatisticsChallenge (45/50)

Wrote up a round of notes before the New Year’s Eve party.

    Summary:

    Notes: 1

  12. #StatisticsChallenge (44/50)

Continued with homework. Took maybe 5min to solve. I feel that should be the minimum requirement for a successful day.

    Summary:

    Homework: 1

  13. #StatisticsChallenge (43/50)

Came across a message from the author of “Atomic Habits” and realized what I have been trying to do is create such a habit through this challenge. The key thing that stuck with me is the idea of “showing up”, where it’s better to do 5min than skip a day.

Additionally, I remembered that my local markdown editor on mobile has a LaTeX renderer and will ease the process when importing into R-Studios.

So I digitalized the physical notes from yesterday.

    Summary:

    Homework-Notes: 2

  14. #StatisticsChallenge (42/50)

Finally was able to start the homework.

    Summary:

    Homework: 2

  15. #StatisticsChallenge (41/50)

The struggle is real, so continued with the least time consuming.

    Summary:

    Quiz: 1

  16. #StatisticsChallenge (40/50)

Still couldn’t get myself to start with the homework.

    Summary:

    Quiz: 1

  17. #StatisticsChallenge (39/50)

Did another quiz as predicted from the previous day.

    Summary:

    Quiz: 1

  18. #StatisticsChallenge (38/50)

Back to doing a quiz. Probably do another one tomorrow before diving back into homework.

    Summary:

    Quiz: 1

  19. #StatisticsChallenge (37/50)

Quite nice that the professor offered online lectures during this week

    Summary:

    Class: 1

  20. #StatisticsChallenge (36/50)

Finished the second part of the homework.

    Summary:

    Homework: 1

  21. #StatisticsChallenge (35/50)

The days prior during class, I remembered how fun it was doing math problems. So today I dealt covariance matrices. Kind of got lazy calculating eigenvalues of a 4x4 matrix, so took R to do the work for me. The values weren’t that nice, so I saved the time dealing with factorization.

    Summary:

    Homework: 1

  22. #StatisticsChallenge (34/50)

The coffee wore off just as I arrived at class. Luckily wasn’t yawning too badly, though focus wasn’t too great either. Remarkable that I was still able to do the math without any critical logical mistakes.

    Summary:

    Class: 2

  23. #StatisticsChallenge (33/50)

It’s been awhile since I drank coffee in the morning. Although it did help for like an hour, the crash happened during the class.

    Summary:

    Class: 1

  24. #StatisticsChallenge (30/50)

Went to class and learnt that next week’s class will be streamed online, so I can travel a couple days earlier for holiday.

    Summary:

    Class: 1

  25. #StatisticsChallenge (29/50)

Barely got any sleep and forced myself to go class.

    Summary:

    Class: 1

  26. #StatisticsChallenge (27/50)

Jumping back to the basics and writing up notes on $\sigma$-algebras.

    Summary:

    Notes: 1

  27. #StatisticsChallenge (26/50)

Finished off the notes from Day 25.

    Summary:
