  1. My second Emily St. John Mandel novel, Sea of Tranquility. A slow-paced story that kept me on the edge of my seat, with pandemic themes that land differently after living through one. Another five out of five. (222 words)

  2. Finally read Station Eleven after loving the HBO adaptation. The book diverges sharply in its second half but carries the same ache — survival is insufficient. Kept me up past my alarm-mandated bedtime. 5/5 (187 words)

  3. Station Eleven TV adaptation series might be on sale on the Apple TV Store. I can’t tell as I’ve already bought it, and the Apple TV Store doesn’t show prices for things you’ve already bought.

It is number 1 in the TV chart. Which is usually a good indicator that it’s on sale to buy or rent cheaply.

    It’s fantastic.

  4. An AI talked me into reading 2666, but a post about Sea of Tranquility reminded me Emily St. John Mandel wrote Station Eleven. Turns out the best recommendation algorithm is still another human. (240 words)

  5. The beauty and brilliance of the #StationEleven @hbomax series makes me want a similar treatment for S.M. Stirling’s #Emberverse novels about #TheChange. More human-scale postapocalypse stuff, please.

  6. There’s a Folio Society edition of Station Eleven.

Why did I not know this was happening? Instant buy! As a birthday present for myself in April.

  7. Could we keep the Republic?

It would involve reading the room, knowing what time it is, and understanding the assignment.

    It’s possible.

But first, more people have to be damaged.

  8. There must be more #shows that touch on #socialism in the way that #Pluribus, #StationEleven and even #StarTrek did... I would like to see them.

  9. I must rewatch the Station Eleven mini series. I bought it on Apple Store when it first came out. There’s a scene between the Kirsten and Jeevan characters in the penultimate or final episode that makes me cry every time. The “you got me home” scene walking on the forest path 😭
