All this mess with the tree on our house and #StateFarm handling it so badly has left me without much willpower for anything else. But somehow today I managed to get the #motorcycle together for a ride to Columbus (from Cleveland) to see my kids (who are at my mom’s; see “State Farm”, above).
And man, I’m glad I did. Such a head-clearer. And such a beautiful day for it.

I’ve been a #StateFarm customer for 30+ years. This homeowner’s claim has ended that. Every contractor has warned me that they’re bad, and three distinct rounds of failure have proven them right. Even my attempts to escalate my complaints have been fruitless. Something is deeply wrong in their organization.
(And to be clear, it’s almost 3 weeks since the damage and they still haven’t paid for anything and still haven’t produced estimates for the repairs - so the contractor is just waiting on them, to start.)
But not until after it is over. I still need them to pay for the repairs and secondary costs. And apparently I have to be claim-free for a year. But damn, I’m setting a reminder.

Okay, VERY impressed at #StateFarm. They collected my old car a couple weeks ago as a total loss. Only got around to sending them the title yesterday with the pre-paid UPS Next Day label.
Seems they got the title, processed it quickly, and a little after 3pm today, I had an e-mail to accept the digital payment of my settlement amount.

I switched to $100/300K #LiabilityOnly for my MB ML350 & my F250 which dropped my #AutoInsurance cost in half to $500/yr because I drive them both less than 2.5k miles/yr & because they are both only worth about $10k at retail (less than 1/2 of that at wholesale) & if either were involved in an accident #StateFarm would probably "total" them & only give me pennies on the $ for in settlement.
In comparison, my MR2 & 335i, that I also drive less than 2.5k miles/yr & are each also only worth about $10k at retail, are fully covered by #Haggerty for a total of $600/yr. 🤷

My name used to be Jake and I changed it to something else for a lot of reasons I won't explain here.
I am kinda glad I did because everyone makes the "Jake from State Farm" reference about every 20 seconds for the rest of your life when your name is Jake, I currently live in LA near Palisades, and now everyone despises State Farm.
Quite glad to not have that attached to my name anymore honestly.
