  1. I just had a thought: I do not expect any 60 year anniversary film or episode at all, sadly. But what if there was a big book thing (novels, but also comics) coming? Like, oh my, that would be fantastic, wouldn‘t it!

  2. I just finished James Swallow's SNW novel "Toward the Night" and the epilogue had me cry a little. Loved it!

Day 26 – Trek Book (fiction or non-fiction)

I've been looking forward to this prompt. I want all your book recommendations!

So... which one to choose? There are so many.

Here are just a very few of my personal highlights:

    Fiction:
📘 "Articles of the Federation" by Keith R. A. DeCandido. -- a unique book as it is a novel about politics and procedures in the Presidential Palace in Paris. I could read a whole series of that. Or watch one. I'd be happy with a mini series.
📚 "Destiny" trilogy by David Mack. -- I had read a few spoilers a while ago and really did not want to read these books. I was upset about the big reveal. But I kept hearing about how great they are and so I finally did read them. I am so glad I did. It's fantastic! It's dramatic and heartbreaking. I cried several times. And I am still upset. LOL Good books do that.

    Non-fiction:
📖 "Star Trek: Open a Channel: A Woman's Trek" by Nana Visitor. -- I have not read far into it yet, but I don't think I am wrong when I say that this is probably the most important non-fiction book about Star Trek.
📓 "The Making of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine". -- One of the first Trek books I ever bought. I love making of books, they are always so very intersting. And this is no exception. (I never liked the translation though and would love to have an English version.)

Shoutout to all the other books, fiction and non-fiction alike.

(I deleted the "Fave" in the prompt, because I just want to pick "one" of many great ones.)

  4. Edit: Taken!

I have a book to give away: The IDIC Epidemic by Jean Lorrah.
I found it in a local free book shelf and after having read it I want to pass it on.
Just send me a DM with your address and it‘s yours. First come, first served. I ship anywhere from Germany. No tracking.

  5. Review of "Lost to Eternity" (4 stars): Scully should be a verb, or: The Search for Gillian Taylor*

  6. My travel entertainment on my way home from my holidays: „Pliable Truths“ audiobook.
I realise that it‘s my Dayton Ward phase apparently, because I‘ve also been reading his „From History‘s Shadow“ this holiday.

  7. TrekLit readers and experts, @[email protected], @[email protected], and @[email protected],

I need your help: Is there such a thing as a cozy Trek novel?
Ok, "cozy" may not be the right word here.
🙃 I am currently in book 3 of the Destiny books, which are pretty intense. Great, but intense. I think I need a bit of a breather after that.
I really enjoyed "Shadows Have Offended", and while it was suspenseful, it was not very intense.
Do you know (from the top of your heads) any books that go more in that direction? No big battles, not billions of deaths, no intense situations, just a fun Trek story?

    Thank you!

  8. Positively Trek has a new book club episode out where Dan Gunther @[email protected] talks with Jessie Gender to @[email protected] about his latest Star Trek: Picard book "Firewall".

I always love listening to Dan and Jessie talk books, especially with the author of that book. This conversation is no exception.

  9. @[email protected] My favourite Star Trek books I read in 2023 are:

„Articles of the Federation“ by Keith R A DeCandido

Destiny book 1 „Gods of Night“ by David Mack

Discovery „Somewhere to Belong“ by Dayton Ward

SNW „The High Country“ by John Jackson Miller

Double Helix „Vectors“ by Dean Wesley Smith and Kristine Kathryn Rusch

Not yet finished with „A Stitch in Time“ by Andrew Robinson, but so far it‘s on the road to 5 stars.

    Honorary mention:
„Night of the Living Trekkies“ by Kevin David Anderson and Sam Stall

  10. I want to get away from Amazon, which includes Audible. I‘ve been subscribed to Audible for years and love that new Star Trek books are available there.

My research into alternatives brought me, once more, to what my library has to offer. Well, to make it short, Star Trek wise it‘s an absolute desert. Even through Libby it‘s a wasteland. I will mark all Trek books I’d like to read or listen to on my wishlist now, which, as I understand it, will inform my library that there‘s interest in that book. But let‘s be real here, I doubt there‘s lots of demand for these books, let alone in English, in my region. (Middle of nowhere in Germany)

I also put Patrick Stewart‘s „Make It So“ audio on hold. I‘m number 5 on the list which means a wait of ca. 10 weeks. At least that book is in demand. Maybe it‘s a sign that Trek books may be more in demand as I thought?
    🤞

  11. This place is one of my favourite stores I’ve ever been to. It’s like a thrift store for nerds! Great prices and selection, lots of older items that I haven’t been able to find in other places.
