  1. I went to see a big rock and all I got was 128 photos of a big rock 🪨✨📷

During an after hours tour, I snuck away to set up the camera in the quiet spot. Uluru-Kata Tjuta national park is otherwise closed between sunset and sunrise.

This needed rather a lot of work to fix and replace overexposed foregrounds courtesy of traffic and a TV crew with flood lights (!!!) but I think it turned out okay. Next holiday in that direction must be during a new Moon.

  2. And finally that finished #startrail practice.
Obviously those are often shot towards Polaris in the Northern hemisphere.
Although loking at this... it seems to be not just for the cool spiraling effect, but because the Galactic Centre makes the whole thing look wonky. XD

  4. Startrails over South Perth

Olympus TG4 in Live Composite mode, sitting in a hotel window. Exposure was about 2 hours. Post processed in #snapseed . Also bonus passing #aircraft .

  5. I have to say I am always #proud when I go to the #ESO (eso.org) webpage to see that one of my #nightscape #photography is used in the frontpage...

See the same picture on my #Flickr gallery: flickr.com/photos/santerne/414

  6. Star trail over Boab.

This is a stacked image that uses a sequence of shots to capture the movement of the stars. I'm using what I call the "bright frame" technique where I compose and capture a silhouette at sunset, facing to the west, then leave the camera in place to record the stars moving around it.

You don't even need a super fast lens to get a result. See my website for a full explanation!

  7. #PhotoJanuary2023 | #January 4th | theme 1 | #failed

This #picture is a #startrail taken from the dome of the swiss "Euler" #telescope at #LaSilla #observatory, in #Chile. The #camera was on the alt-az mount so it was tracking the stars horizontally. I tried to produced an artistic "raining star trail"... but I failed.

  8. 2023 Challenge: Going to try to post a pic a day. No particular order or theme.

This one is a composition of LeVeque Tower with a star trail from the banks of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I enjoy the possibility of this happening even though everything screams photoshop.

  9. Did you ever see a #picture of the #piazza #SanMarco in #Venice / #Italy, with nobody on it ?

This #photography is a composite of 10 long-exposure frames that are averaged to smooth out all #tourists and pigeons !

This is the same technique as for a #starTrail, but during the day. Done with the StarStaX+DxO PL5 softwares.

  10. Do you want to know how to make #stunning #astronomy #picture of the #night #sky without having a large #telescope ?

So just follow this #thread about #StarTrail or #StarCircle and you shall be able to produce #photography like those attached.
