Last month, we created a collection listing some European tech companies that are currently active on the Fediverse.
Today we will share with you a second collection featuring some European email providers who are also here with us. ✉️

3rd, learning about the various European alternatives helps us to recommend the most suitable option to our friends, even if it's a different email provider to the one we use. People may look for different criteria, such as prices, jurisdiction, ethics etc.

Finally, we never know when we might need to change provider, so it helps to have names in mind. 💡

ActivityPub for WordPress 9.0.0 is here. Unpublishing a federated post now sends a real Delete instead of a placeholder. Be aware that this can be permanent on other servers. A new Distribution Mode keeps federation from overwhelming smaller servers, your blog can now be featured in Starter Kits, images get blurred color previews, and the ActivityPub API moves closer to the W3C standard. -

🐝 Die Flockenblumen-Langhornbiene galt in Sachsen lange als verschollen, wurde aber bei einem BUND-Monitoring in Meißen wiederentdeckt.
🐝Die Rainfarn-Maskenbiene lebt in Sand- und Kiesgruben, Steinbrüchen, bei Trockenmauern oder Lösswänden. Sie sammelt Pollen an Korbblütlern und ist typisch für trockenwarme Standorte.
🐝Die Schuppenhaarige Kegelbiene ist eine Kuckucksbiene und legt ihre Eier in fremde Nester.
Wusstet ihr? In Deutschland gibt es über 560 Wildbienenarten. Laut Roter Liste sind 31 vom Aussterben bedroht, über 220 gefährdet und 42 Arten stehen auf der Vorwarnliste. Auch Hummeln zählen zu den Wildbienen.

Unser Social Media Team hat sich einen kleinen Spaß erlaubt und sich überlegt, wie sich unsere liebsten #Wildbienen kleiden würde, wenn sie Menschen wären. Das sind ihre wirklichen Eigenheiten..
🐝 Die Filzzahn-Blattschneiderbiene schneidet Pflanzenblätter ab, um ihre Nistkammer auszukleiden. Sie ist die Biene für strukturreiche, trockenwarme Standorte und bevorzugt Schmetterlingsblütler.
🐝Die Blauschwarze Holzbiene nutzt Totholz als Brutplatz und kommt erst seit ein paar Jahren in Sachsen regelmäßig vor.
🐝Die Frühlings-Pelzbiene baut ihre Nester gern in Mauerspalten.
🐝Die Dunkelfransige Hosenbiene trägt auffallende Beinbehaarung. Sie bevorzugt Wegwarte und braucht offenen Sandboden zum Nisten.

Il s'agit de comptes français 🇫🇷 qui postent régulièrement des infos sur les #LogicielsLibres et #OpenSource.
Cette liste des comptes retrouvés sur la base de ceux réunis par Nicolas Vivant est 3 fois moins grande (je l'enrichirai avec le temps).
Investissons aussi Bluesky et prêchons-y la bonne parole ! 😇

There seem to be several projects to help people follow others. I'm not sure if they're all trying to do the same thing, if they're interoprable, or if they're collaborating to create a standard.
I initially checked out the hashtag #StarterPack, and now I've learned there's #StarterKit too.

I’m having fun with this #WeekendProject for a #Mastodon #StarterKit.
It’s exactly what I was hoping to achieve, and I’m the first guinea pig.
My goal is to create base templates for multiple frameworks, removing initial barriers around auth and API call configuration.
These are often hurdles for beginners interested in Mastodon development (like me), and providing that initial scaffolding pushes past those complexities and into building exciting new ideas for the community. 🥰

More work on my #Mastodon #StarterKit tonight. I’m happier with the Link/Video/Audio Cards piece with a bit of styling and some snooping around in Elk and Phanpy code. I’m trying to keep this simple.
It’s still a bit of a mystery to me how Mastodon decides to return embeds like YouTube and SoundCloud. Sometimes it works and looks great, other times it’s just a basic link and maybe an image.
I even pushed it up to Netlify to see what would happen and it didn’t blow up! That’s a good sign.
