In today’s programming workshop for @coocook we’ve fixed a long-standing bug in the ingredients editor (image 1):

When you added ingredients to recipes there was a #RaceCondition. The new ingredient is always added to the database but SOMETIMES the view was updated before so the new ingredient wasn’t visible until next reload …

It was a nice engineering challenge to reproduce this issue reliably. Slowing down the connection did not help. Making any of the requests respond slower did not help. Using the #Starman application server for #Perl instead of the single-threaded dev server finally allowed to reproduce the issue 😅

The actual bug was in the #reactjs app: Requests for adding the new ingredient and updating the view were fired but the keyword "await" was missing to actually wait for the response 🙈 (image 2)

#1 2002 Resident Evil Movie Revisited – Almost a quarter-century ago, the first-ever live-action Resident Evil movie was released in cinemas directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and starring Milla Jovovich. Believe it or not, the 2002 movie was realized after the original film project involving zombie movie legend George Romero – who even directed the Japanese market TV commercial of Resident Evil 2/Bio Hazard 2 – got scrapped. Having played many RE games, I saw the movie in the local cinema upon release and went home feeling numb and alienated. Even though the film was never an adaptation of the games (note: no RE character from the games appeared in the movie) and it had its own concepts, there are still some people who enjoyed it or endured the moments of suspense and horror. By jove, am I embarrassed or what: Did not bother to see this when it came out (in the 1890s) as I foolishly thought at the time #TwinPeaks could not be improved.. even with a prequel.
Why was I not informed #Starman #DavidJones was in it AND #ChrisIsaacs? Darling #DavidLynch, what an #auteur, a true #AmericanTreasure who left this decaying experiment, not a moment too soon.
