Interplay's Starfleet Academy game not only had a unique Andorian logo, but also a Deltan and Medusan one.
Their 3D style hasn't aged well, but given the game also included other well known logos like the IDIC, we can extrapolate what these would look in other styles.

@mklopez dropping a note that the petition to save *Starfleet Academy* will be hitting 30k signatures today, far more than the out of date number the CBR article cites.
It’s hard to know if the article is correct that writing off investments vs amortization over further seasons makes overall sense in the large financial restructuring that Skydance will need to do to absorb both Paramount and WBDiscovery.
It’s surely the case that the conglomerate will have cash flow issues with that level of junk bond load — it’s also critical to reassure investors that they can generate revenue. There’s a real risk that share values will tank at the next earnings call, and April Ad Week is imminent.
So far, the decisions on the broadcast news side have been disastrous for viewership and the related advertising revenue. Killing the intrinsic value of legacy capital to position themselves to get through the approval of the merger, whether IP or trusted broadcast brands, could kill the merger in the financial markets even if it gets FTC approval.
Fans of Starfleet Academy need to make their case to advertisers and to investors not just to Paramount executives.

One of Star Trek‘s veteran actors who returned for its divisive new spinoff, Starfleet Academy, is speaking out against criticisms of the show. Robert Picardo recently talked with fans on social media about the show’s backlash.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Picardo shared a newspaper image published from the time his previous Star Trek project, Voyager, went to air. “It is interesting to note that @StarTrek #Voyager, so beloved in retrospect, was thought “woke” (“politically correct” was the term way back then) at its premiere,” Picardo wrote. The post generated plenty of dialogue with Star Trek fans regarding Starfleet Academy, which has been incredibly divisive among fans, and Picardo took the time to further share his thoughts with the naysayers.

— Robert Picardo (@RobertPicardo) January 18, 2026One person replied to the post, claiming to have an “insider at CBS”, claiming that “Alex Kurtzman, behind the scenes, is intentionally turning it into a political lecture”, which Picardo responded to. “I know Alex Kurtzman. I work with him. I know what you were saying is not true about his motives. But my point remains: if you have a better vision, bring it to the table. You are a writer with a lot of experience and science fiction. Turn your back on what you don’t like and create something with your vision.”
Picardo also took the time to share one of his own experiences of being offended by entertainment earlier in life, responding to a fan who also criticized Kurtzman’s era of Star Trek. “I remember refusing to see THE GODFATHER,” Picardo wrote. “Being 100% Italian American, I thought it promoted negative stereotypes. I prejudged it and refused to watch it for years. Now it is my favorite movie.”
He went on to share how disheartening it was to read people tearing the show down rather than just not watching the new Star Trek installment if it wasn’t to their liking. “Here it is, simply. I miss the days when, if you didn’t like a TV show, you simply didn’t watch it. What I find sad about this present moment, is that people who don’t like a television show make it their mission to keep others from watching it, to attack it round the clock, to destroy it,” he shared.
“This isn’t a football game. This isn’t a zero sum battle to the death. This is freedom of choice in entertainment. Aren’t there more positive ways to spend your energy than simply trying to destroy someone else’s creative effort?” Picardo continued, “If you are certain you can do better, write a pitch and take it to CBS-Paramount. You have writing talent and credentials. Invest all of the time spent in trying to tear something down into trying to build something new. I promise you I’ll watch it.”

Alex Kurtzman On “Very Cool” ‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Credit Sequence And “Relevant” 32nd Century

The new series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is due to arrive in early 2026, and shooting on the second season started last week. Since SDCC in July we have been learning more and more about this series and characters and now executive producer Alex Kurtzman is talking about some different details, notably the opening credits, and more.
A credit sequence unlike others
The latest comments from Kurtzman (who is a co-creator and co-showrunner for the series) come from another SDCC interview which was just released by Collider. Of course the opening title sequences for Star Trek shows can be iconic, so when asked if Academy will go with the classic narration route (like TOS or Strange New Worlds) or the more musical route (like Voyager or Discovery), Kurtzman wouldn’t get that specific, but he did talk about how they approached the credit sequence:
“What I will tell you is that it’s super cool. I’m really excited. I look at credit sequences now – on Severance, for example – amazing, amazing credit sequence. There’s such an art to the process of building a credit sequence. And what you want to do is find what is that visual metaphor that then becomes the show in an interesting way. So I’m really excited. It’s very unlike other Star Trek credit sequences, but there’s something very familiar about it too, which just kind of speaks to the idea of the whole show.”
Kurtzman did confirm that the credit sequence used for the first season will also be used for the second, with no plans to make changes if the show gets additional seasons.

The new series is set in the 32nd century, after the events of Star Trek: Discovery. When asked about deciding when in Star Trek history to set the new series, Kurtzman said there was no other choice:

It was always the 32nd century… Whatever Trek show you’re making has to individuate. It has to be its own show. It has to have a reason for being other than the other Star Trek shows.
And in the 32nd century, you’re dealing with a post-Burn world where trust in government has broken down. Where the Federation is rebuilding. Where people are divided. Where there’s all these major issues. And in Discovery, the ship came and started bringing the Federation back together again. And now our kids are the first class back in over 120 years. And so you have a generation of kids who are facing the mistakes of their elders or the issues that have been handed down to them by their elders, and are now having to deal with it. And it felt like a very relevant topic. As a father, I see what my son is going through as he’s about to go off into the world, and it felt very much like what our cadets are going through.”
Starfleet Academy is a dangerous place
At the time of the interview in late July, the writers room was just finishing up work on the script for the season 2 finale. When asked what lessons learned making the first season were put to use in season 2, Kurtzman focused on the cast:
“The first thing I’ll tell you is that this cast, to a person, is unbelievable. Unbelievable. Like to be able to sit in the editing room and go through every take and everything is so great. Which beautiful meal on the buffet table would you like to eat, because they’re all equally tasty. It was so fantastic. And I think that what we love about our show and our characters is that they are not yet, with the exception of [Holly Hunter’s Captain] Nahla [Ake], fully formed people. They get to make mistakes that Starfleet officers are really not allowed to make, because they’re still figuring out who they are. And what’s really fun about that too, is that some of them go in thinking they want one thing, but like everybody who goes to college, they may exit Starfleet Academy realizing that what they thought they wanted when they came in is not at all what their destiny is. And so that’s a really fun thing.”
