https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quedius_lateralisdiese gattung hat 150 arten, der Q. lateralis aus dem Wikipediaartikel ist nur stellvertretend, so genau lässt sich das bei dem foto nicht sagen. war auch ein echt flinkes tierchen, nicht einfach abzulichten.

Okay, let’s start with the first rove beetle here, shall we? This is Phosphuga atrata, a carrion beetle (Silphinae). In German, it’s commonly called “Schwarzer Schneckenjäger” which translates to Black Snail Hunter. As the name suggests, this beetle is hunting snails and uses its elongated neck to reach into the snail shell, but it also feeds on other insects and carrion.
Being classified as their own family before, after several analyses Silphinae were reclassified as a subfamily of #Staphylinidae in 2024.
This #beetle below was found in South Sweden, walking on jetty at the coast of the Baltic Sea.

zum #insektenSamstag hab ich auch noch einen kurzflügler, gestern gesehen, allerding war der kamerascheu, deshalb habe ich ein foto von vor einem jahr (und der selben stelle!) dazu gepackt.
@lavievagabonde , bekannt für den podcast @BugtalesFM und ihre bücher, forscht zu kurzflüglern. so schade, dass sie hier nicht mehr aktiv istOcypus (nitens vermutlich)

I (badly) photographed this (currently identified) #Noctuidae species in #Merimbula #NSW. It was only when I transferred the images to my laptop that I saw the #pseudoscorpion crawling away - presumably it arrived by phoresis on the #moth - and how attractive the small beetle (#Staphylinidae) is with its pearly elytra.
Sorry not to have got a closer look at the pseudoscorpion - I love them so much.

I've just had a hard week. Honestly, when both Aleochara bipustulata (L.) and A. binotata Kr. (Coleoptera Staphylinidae) are in mixture in a sample, the affair turns hellish!
Without spermatheca, recognizing females is almost impossible.
At least, I could shoot lots of genitalia pictures. Last time, I published A. bipustulata (L.) entire aedeagus. This time, it is median lobe only.Hope, this will help.

Sorry: this picture is not meant to be nice, but to be useful. Aedeagus inspection is required in order to sort out European Coprochara species (Coleoptera #Staphylinidae). But Käfer Mitteleuropas features only median lobes. So here is a full view of Aleochara (Coprochara) bipustulata (L.) aedeagus.
