It took longer than I thought, perhaps I had lost that wibbly wobbly stuff for some days. 😂
But now I published my thoughts about the weird feelings of #time when we feel overwhelmed. And how to get our timey-wimey stuff back:
https://steady.page/en/naturematchcuts/posts/6a7c6585-3b32-4168-ba32-ef0e3a7c9364?utm_campaign=steady_sharing_buttonYes, we can debate now if wolves invented #StandingStones by marking and how you find your #tree. 😁

Not quite #StandingStoneSunday but it’s a broad church, so here are a couple of photographs of the tumulus de Colombiers-sur-Seulles, the oldest surviving stone monument in the Calvados region of Normandy. It dates from about 4,000 BCE. The whole site has a very tranquil setting.
The first image shows the entrance into the funerary chamber which is about 2.5 metres wide and has 6 remaining orthostats or upright stones. Charred and broken bones were found in this chamber on excavation.
The second image is a wider shot showing the whole of the long barrow itself, which is impressive at about 60 metres in length, and about 18 metres wide at the eastern end and about 9 metres wide at the western end, nearest the foreground of the photograph. At this western end, there are two "blocking" stones which might suggest another chamber here, with its entrance here.

The Avenue (leading to) Avebury, Wiltshire

People: Magic and the Legacy of Slavery in Madagascar)
Mais les pierres subsistent.#stones #sacredstones #standingstones #orimbato #madagascar #imerina #hova #graeber #decolonialhistory #petractivism #pierre #pencil #drawing #illustration

Happy Monday, everyone 😊
I posted a new piece on my #blog ... about encounters with the local wildlife (a bit of a change from my usual stuff about #StandingStones and #HolyWells 😁)
It starts like this ...
"I don't really accept that one magpie foretells sorrow, but I'll happily anticipate joy when I see two."
Big thanks to @Devonkiwi and @Glamazon for the photos 💗

I present to you the Bronze Age standing stone, known as Queen's Stone.
Excavated in 1926 by Alfred Watkins (of Ley Lines fame), twice as much lies buried beneath the ground.
It sits alone in a huge bend of the River Wye, near Symonds Yat.
And the strangest thing about it? There appears to be no surviving folklore about this remarkable stone 🤷🏼♀️

Another day, another view of Arthur's Stone, Herefordshire.
Older than Stonehenge, this one (I didn't know that until the other day!) dating from around 3700-2700 BC

I know it's not #StandingStoneSunday yet, but I'm really excited that this arrived today ... I was originally after Julian Cope's 'The Modern Antiquarian' but at £275 that was not an option. This one, however, is most excellent and a fraction of the price 💙

Happy Monday, everyone!
I've got a new piece of writing on my blog, if you're interested 😊
"Somewhere between remembrance and forgetting, we can meet, we can witness each other, me and these stones, these wells. Something is alive here, but it won't always be, and just possibly, it shouldn't."

"It’s an ancient kinship, this connection I feel to rocks and stones. They stand witness to repeated human passage, waypoints in the landscape, marked across millennia."
