The world of mechanical pencils is a strange one. I wanted a specific model by Staedtler, a German brand. So I thought that would be easy, being located in the neighboring country. Apparently some models are made in Japan, including this one. Maybe it needed an even higher standard of manufacturing? Or that their market is better tailored to it?
Anyways, I am a fan of German and Japanese quality, so having that combined works for me.

@futurebird how about a #Staedtler 780 Mars #MechanicalPencil. The only consumable are sticks of graphite and clay with a small metal ferule at the end.
