Hier, un panache de cendres a été observé au-dessus du mont Saint Helens... Le volcan n'est pourtant pas en éruption ! Il s'agissait en fait des cendres de l'éruption de 1980, qui ont été remobilisées par les vents (un peu comme le vent apporte parfois du sable du Sahara jusqu'en Europe).
 Ce phénomène de remobilisation est fréquent en Alaska, où les cendres du Novarupta sont régulièrement emportées par les vents, plus d'un siècle après sa grande éruption de 1912 (j'en avais parlé ici : https://social.sciences.re/@kipuka/112336462711698190).
 Il est impensable que le mont Saint Helens puisse érupter sans signe précurseur. Le volcan est bardé de capteurs ; quand il s'activera, divers signaux nous l'indiqueront plusieurs semaines avant l'arrivée du magma en surface.
