  1. "Nothing demonstrates better the appalling environmental record of our polluting water companies than the fact that they are not even taking care of the highly protected areas that they actually own. It simply cannot be right that the payment of large dividends to shareholders and huge bonuses to bosses is prioritised before protecting SSSIs. This entire culture of polluting for profit must end”

  3. Now the #TorySewageParty are considering stripping #NaturalEngland of its powers - no to the #PeakDistrict being a #SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest), no to #Farmers getting funding for #Nature friendly practices, all because Natural England is ENFORCING the rules to farmers who breach SSSIs.
    #DEFRA appears silent so far.
Already the UK is #Biodiversity deficient, so hey #Tory party can make it worse

  4. "Price had objected to the River Lugg and banks next to his farm being made a site of special scientific interest (SSSI) in February 1995, the court was told."

The Telegraph is reporting this as if the farmer was a pillar of the community and trying to protect people from flooding. But he'd been systematically wrecking the river since 1995 and destroyed the habitat of 6 endangered and protected species.
