  1. If you’re near central Ōtautahi-Christchurch, today is the latest #SchoolStrike4Climate. My daughter’s one of the students working hard to plan the event. They want pressure on the Christchurch City Council and the NZ government to step up in this time of crisis.

It starts at the Bridge of Remembrance 1PM. Everyone is welcome incl. adults. Make noise, have fun, and show solidarity with our rangatahi freaked out by NZ’s lack of climate leadership.

  2. Up to #schools to decide if #protesters' #SS4C #absences were justified - principals rnz.co.nz/news/national/513573
Not many schoolkids at the #Palmy rally though. Older students maybe; one woman wore a mortarboard. The march around the block gained a few onlookers.

  3. The #SchoolStrike4ClimateNZ today in Auckland.

They understand better than most adults the scale of the crisis ahead.

They get more out of a day of organising their movement, fighting for their causes and building power than from yet another day in the infectious air classroom.

Proud of these rangatahi, tamariki and their whānau.

  6. This afternoon’s big noisy protest through the streets of Ōtautahi-Christchurch, NZ, led the protest into the Christchurch City Council building. Inside there were speeches and art and music and a question-and-answer session with five councillors. Then the students sat on the floor and wrote submissions to the city’s Long Term Plan. Now they’re barn dancing!

The kids are much more than alright. Let them vote already!

  7. I'm listening to the speeches from the kids at Parliament on the #SchoolStrikeForCLimateNZ #SS4C and I would much rather vote for any of them before any of the adults inside parliament.

    The kids are alright.

  8. Little One was inspired this morning and made a few more signs.

Perhaps planning to distribute them to signless children at the #SchoolStrike4ClimateNZ #SS4C.

  9. Little One changed their mind and made a sign about sharks (because they're all about sharks these days).

All of us can help #ShiftThePower away from #DirtyEnergy:
    - Stop repeating their talking points & narratives (not sure which commonly-repeated tropes are part of their decades-long #ClimateDisinformation campaign? Never too late to learn)
    - Stop voting for their paid representatives in parliament (typically found within both/most major parties). #DirtyEnergyDirtyPolitics #DirtyDonations #PutCorruptionLast
    - Support actions happening near you (not sure what's happening or how to help? Search for your location & #ClimateAction #ClimateJustice).
    - Learn more about why we're collectively still failing to implement (political/economic/societal/cultural) changes at a scale & pace commensurate with the scale & pace of the #ClimateCrisis (hint: too much power in too few hands: #plutocracy #colonialism #capitalism #patriarchy #individualism).
    - Consider the stakes: life as we know it is incompatible with the public business plans of the most powerful corporations on the planet. One/both of those realities will definitely change. Will you?
