Oops, bought a straight fork instead of a tapered one and the return time is long over (just found some time to tackle this with the new fork already collecting dust).
Just ordered an adapter that should arrive tomorrow. Lets see how this fits...
The old fork makes water noises if shaken, so I suspect its rusted solid inside (which is fine after 11 years full year use without any service and countless hours parked outside at work.
Another reason for the new fork is the slightly longer travel/slightly higher hanflebar position which should help with my back issues.
For reference: old fork is CCR-32 LO-R ; new one is X1
