Silk Road Mountain Race. Wow - what an adventure!

When I applied for the race I wasn’t really sure whatfor. There was no really strong „why“.

Annie, the only female single speeder in the race explains her reasoning for going single speed with lost voice on the race podcast: "Because I listened to a podcast last November and it sounded pretty cool" 😅

From the podcast it sounds in general like many of the participants are "pretty cooked". Huge respect for them keeping going.

Morgens früh Heissluftballons am Himmel. Beim Frühstück auf der Ausflugsterrasse ertränkt sich eine Wespe in Nuss-Nougat-Creme. „Ausfall TV Signal über den Glasfaseranschluss“, nach ein paar Stunden behoben. Ein Paket wegbringen, Staubsaugen, der Grosstante zum Geburtstag gratulieren (97!). Zuschauen, wie die grossartige Meaghan Hackinen beim #SRMR2025 als erste Frau ins Ziel kommt. Den Herrn Papa daran erinnern, genug zu trinken.

Hey, ich bin in einer abgelegenen Gegend vom Weg abgekommen, einen Hang hinuntergerutscht, lag eine halbe Stunde unter meinem Rad und konnte mich nichr befreien, konnte es dann doch, bin dann aber in einen Fluss gefallen und danach sind die nassen Klamotten sofort an meinen Körper gefroren. Aber ansonsten geht es mir gut. Nur schade, dass meine Kekse jetzt aufgeweicht sind.

Ich mag die Einstellung von Carlotta Schuhmacher. 🥰

"233km to finish" - looks like Robin Gemperle wants to be done in less than 7 days...

He also seems successful in doing the Lockpicking Lawyer thing after his Tour Divide win. "Let's try that one more time, to show that it was not a fluke." 😉

(In a recent podcast he mentioned he felt that he had to prove that Tour Divide was not just a lucky punch.)

Only a good 250km left on the parcours and #RobinGemperle - if everything goes alright - will likely be the winner of another epic unsupported cycling race.

Josh Ibbett had to scratch while being in 3rd place. ("because the bearings in my dynamo hub failed")

That must suck. I'm curious to find out what brand dynamo he used. But probably it can happen with any hub. Especially with the amount of stress and water they put on their bikes.
