You bring the topics. We bring the pizza. 🍕 Dash0 + SuperPlane are hosting an unconference in San Francisco for platform #engineers, #SREs, and #DevOps teams exploring what happens between “something broke” and “it’s handled.” May 26 👉 eu1.hubs.ly/H0vfHbX0

🐝🐧🎊 Happy New Year's Eve from #Coroot to our global community of #opensource observability heroes!
A special thank you from the bottom of our heart to Asker, Arie, George, and everyone who helped our community improve open #observability for everyone in 2025.
May everyone have (mostly) functioning pods and incident-free evenings in 2026. Maybe you'll be the top contributor next year: https://github.com/coroot/coroot

A recent study by ClickHouse shows that #LLMs aren’t ready yet to replace #SREs - at least for tasks such as finding the root causes of incidents.
The experiment tested five leading models using real observability data.

Reminder for people in #DevOps, #developers, #SREs, system admins, and other related fields.
If you are planning on pushing to production before Christmas. It's too late. If you do it now, you'll be debugging it in your childhood bedroom, on poor quality WiFi, while your racist uncle argues with your partner downstairs. Save yourself the pain. Freeze production until the new year.

https://twitter.com/bitfield/status/1605627413039353858 - "I once worked with a manager who asked 'Why do we all need these #SREs when the site never goes #down?' I think about that a lot." Brilliant insight John Arundel.

This week on Slight Reliability I chat to Eric Schabell from Chronosphere about how dashboards fit into modern #observability.
We discuss the Know > Triage > Understand process, the similarities between good documentation and good dashboards, leveraging dashboards to empower less experienced #SREs to be on call, and much more.

Have any #SREs / reliability engineers used value stream mapping to improve operational processes? How did it go? Would you be willing to come on the Slight Reliability podcast to discuss it?

I've had some chats #SREs in the industry recently that reminded me of the importance of #culture. If teams (and orgs) are self-reflecting, actively seeking out areas that aren't going so well, and approaching them with curiosity and a willingness to experiment... you *almost* can't go wrong.
If communicating things that aren't going well is met with defensiveness, indifference, or it's not safe to say anything unless it's "positive" (being nice, not kind)... how can we improve?

Let's face it, #SREs are professional Rube Goldbergs of Internet services. Be proud!

People are at home and searching for great movies to watch on JustWatch.
My team grew 300% (okay, let's be honest: we are now 3 #SREs) this last half year, and we have new faces who never experienced Christmas duty so far.

For extra horror for my fellow #SREs or other system-admin-type folks out there: I am running all three of them on SLIGHTLY different configurations. This is definitely a disaster waiting to happen that I intend to clean up. Someday.
I swear I'm actually not terrible at this! 🤣
