National Bilibid Prison Development Plan Tackled By Muntinlupa City Councilors

Recently in the progressive city of Muntinlupa, the development plan of the National Bilibid Prison was tackled by the City Council in the form of a public hearing with several stakeholders present, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from Manila Bulletin report. Some parts in boldface…

The Muntinlupa City Council held a public hearing to address the impending development of the vast land of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP), which is expected to affect residents.

The NBP, located in Barangay Poblacion, is under the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) and houses prison facilities.

The NBP Reservation, which refers to the surrounding areas outside the prison facilities, contains houses of BuCor employees, public school teachers, and residents, as well as public schools and churches.

The City Council’s Committee of the Whole, with all councilors present, conducted the public hearing together with presidents of resident associations and informal settlers, representatives from the Commission on Human Rights, Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, and BuCor.

Councilor Raul Corro, majority floor leader, said the entire City Council held the hearing “due to the importance of the subject matter: the Bucor proposed master development plan for NBP.”

He explained that the hearing discussed the “concern of informal settlers on their relocation and the legal requirements to be met to have a relocation plan that meets the minimum livable requirements such as availability of basic services like water, power and other amenities.”

Corro emphasized that the city government is entitled to its equitable share in the development of any national wealth such as land under its jurisdiction, and should be informed about the kind of development to be implemented in NBP.

In Kawangare, one of the many “informal settlements” – or slums – in Kenya’s capital Nairobi, Jane is often worried about the weather. The droughts and flood events that hit her neighbourhood are becoming more regular and intense with each year that passes, posing a real threat to people’s lives.

“Life has always been hard in the informal settlements: Food and water is scarce, and there are so many people,” says the 59-year old, who has lived in Kawangare since 1989. 'But now that the climate change is here, things really are becoming much harder.'

Nairobi’s informal settlements are illegal neighborhoods that fall outside of the jurisdiction of city authorities. They are scattered across the sprawling Nairobi urban area, with millions squeezing in: In 2019, for example, some 200 informal settlements occupied six per cent of Nairobi's land, but held some 60 per cent of the city's population.

Globally, some 1.1 billion people are believed to live in informal settlements, representing around 15 per cent of the world’s urban population."

"During a special hearing on Friday, the San Francisco Housing Authority Commission approved a construction license agreement with master developer BRIDGE Housing that paves the way for the demolition of a portion of the Potrero Hill site located between Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, 25th and 22nd streets. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) signed off on the plan on Tuesday, according to Housing Authority Director Tonia Lediju.

Housing Authority officials described a pressing need to expedite the planned demolitions, given the site’s recent issues with unauthorized tenancies. Now that approvals are in place, Lediju said that the earliest the vacant units will realistically be demolished is toward the end of this year. But, there are active demands to relocate the unauthorized tenants of the complex . . ."

Interesting that old bill/heddlu are warning estate agents and sparkys and tradespeople against assisting the #cannabis grows - it seems all of them have been involved and some nicked for this - it certainly isn't #squatters growing the pot, town centres are full of #CCTV and it is nowadays difficult to get into an empty building without permission without being grassed up for #burglary

A few weeks ago, a pack of #degenerate, #scumbag #squatters illegally seized #GordonRamsay's restaurant in #London, boarding up the windows and declaring that the $16 million building was theirs, because they said so. Now, they've apparently vacated the building after being served with legal paperwork, leaving behind thousands of dollars in damage, and cleaning expenses. How much more entitled can you possibly be? May all the worst things in life fall on their shoulders.
