  2. What would it take to get photo journalists and video journalists on the Fediverse?

They can keep using Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc, too.

But, what would it take to ALSO get them here?

  3. Something Fediverse related that I am working on —

    Toddlerverse

Basically, what I have been thinking about is —

What would take to make areas of the Fediverse geared towards toddlers.

(The document I am writing is still a work in progress.)

(I am a parent of young children, so I have first-hand experience with kids usage of online media, including social-media.)

  4. The WAFRN idea of custom themes is very cool, too.

Decades ago, being able to 'theme' and 'skin' things was common.

I like that WAFRN has this feature.

It might be fun to make able to use your own custom verbs, too.

    For example:

"Joe Blow has throw a water balloon at you."

I think it wouldalso be nice if other Fediverse software supported the displaying of these types of activities (even if they don't support creating them.)

I like the idea of having "fun" things that are part of (at least some of) the Fediverse.

The WAFRN idea of "bites" / "pokes" seems like one of them.

I would assume notifications for it might look something like:

    "Joe Blow has bit you."

    ...

  7. We should take this as an opportunity to ask — WHY?

And — how could we improve things on the Fediverse to be attractive to scientists?

    ...

BTW, I was part of Science-Twitter, back when I used to be active on Twitter. And, wanted to be part of a Science-Fedi, too.

    So, this affected me, too.

  8. An interesting quote from @geerlingguy .

The TL;DR is that — for him to use PeerTube or any other Fediverse alternative to YouTube — he would need to be able to make a living from it.

He is not the only one who has expressed this sentiment.

This is something I have been thinking about and talking a lot about for a while now.

(I know I am not the only one.)

  9. An alternative name for the Fediverse:

    Peopleverse

    Via @ayo 's article:

"Why I Care So Much About the Fediverse"

“In simple terms, the Fediverse is the “Internet of People”.”

I am somewhat conflicted about quotes. I don't feel QT-ing prejudice against
#neurodiverse into our groups/circles as some sort of dunking opportunity would improve our day for many of us, just amplify concerns about societal attitudes. Also...

Personally, having (valid) questions, criticisms & professional experiences relating to Brexit debate QT'ed in to the Brexiter circles and therefore getting dogpiled, harassed & threatened was an extremely unpleasant experience on birdsite.

However, that said I've been using QT on Calckey and enjoying the convenience and encountered no problems so far.

The issues may well be a question of community standards and moderation more than it is really a question of toolsets.

I do wonder if people wanting QT should be told, "make a Calckey account" (for example) and not "You are wrong to want QT". I have probably been more worried about QT existing than I should have been, as it seems to be used differently (so far) here in the Fediverse.
