  12. How does carrying heavy loads in low-oxygen environments affect both brain and muscle? In their recent study, Baur et al. simultaneously measured brain and muscle oxygenation with the OctaMon and PortaMon to investigate the physiological response to thoracic load carriage in hypoxia.

  16. Trying to figure out a reasonable exercise schedule for myself, I decided to "do the simplest thing that could possibly work", and multiply heartrate zone by time in the zone, and add them together, to have a single number to look at.

    I was sure the number is almost-entirely-but-not-quite nonsense, but turns out this is called TRIMP (TRaining IMPulse), a widely used metric in sports science.

    Not sure if I should feel validated or be disappointed in sports scientists.
