To Stack or Not To Stack, that is the question.
The first image is a single shot, the second is a focus stacked composite of 10 photos. It is possible to do more so that the background is also in sharp focus but I think that would detract from the shot and lose the emphasis on the main subject.

It's a Small World
You can used extension tubes with a normal lens for macro photography, but if you already have a macro lens and use it with a couple of extension tubes then you get some larger than life shots. The largest of these cups is probably less than 3 millimetres diameter and the shot is not cropped. Focus stacking becomes essential as the depth of field of each layer is a fraction of a millimetre.

Look What I Found Hanging Around in the Woods....
I suspect this is Badhamia utricularis, a species of slime mould in the family Physaraceae on a dead limb, most likely from an oak tree..
To give you some idea of scale, each of those yellow globules is less than 1 millimetre diameter. This is a 20 shot photo stack to get enough depth of field.

I made a spore print for the first time!
Spore prints show what color spores the mushrooms produce. It's an important part of mushroom identification.
Spore prints are pretty easy to do. Cut the cap off the mushroom, cut it in half, and place the halves gills-down on a white paper and a black paper. You use different colored paper to see both light and dark colored spores. Leave in a box or under a bowl for 8 to 24 hours.
When you're done, the spore prints can be made into a bookmark for your mushroom book.
