I find myself wondering about the history of this snag. Even decapitated like this, it towers over passing pedestrians. It must have been mighty in its prime. I am not the best tree identifier to begin with and have even less clue here, but I welcome anyone with a guess as to what kind of tree it is/was.

Having a generally cranky-geezer day due to a combo of bad knees, stressful peopling moments, and the sudden weather gearshift back to Oregon damp, so it was time for another nature errand to get my head sorted. Such a relief to commune with the trees, which may make my eyes itch but never give me anxiety attacks over "okay now what the heck did they mean by that last DM??!?" 🤣

LOL I have so many at-home things on my to-do list, but today somehow nothing seemed so important as getting out and wandering about. I'm wary of going too far afield with the way the van has been behaving recently, but I can still make a decent mini-jaunt out of local parks and such.

Haven't been to visit this other nice riverside park in awhile - glad to find its parking lot relatively empty, and no longer dominated by a pickup truck with a huge American flag lashed to its bed so it trails in the mud. (I always wonder at these folks clearly violating all the official rules for respectful display of the US flag that they purport to love so much... 😄)
