We get them big at home too, but I reckon the golden orb weavers/tiger spiders/Trichonephila plumipes get a bit bigger up here in Brisbane.
Both of these are females, but in the first photo there is also a male above the female in her web. The males are much, much smaller.

Just found two spiders out in the garage fighting ...
I am wondering, do they fight like The Warriors? Or snapping their fingers as they hunch down walking sideways to their opponents?
Do spiders even have fingers to snap?
