RADIO IRRTUM! Special: Spoken Words in Music
    (on air from Berlin)

↓↓↓ This is the English language announcement ↓↓↓

Da next issue of #RadioIrrtum! will air this Saturday, 2025/12/20, 8:00pm UTC+1, Berlin time. At Alex Berlin FM at 91MHz / DAB+ K7D around #Berlin + worldwide at https://www.alex-berlin.de/radio-livestream .

Last time on FM air waves, as civic stations in Germany are banned from using "UKW" starting 2026. Because everyone has nice sustainable DAB+ radio receivers nowadays. Right? RIGHT??

#Radio Irrtum! usually is a German language #radioShow exploring the sonic vastness of the #underground. Emitted transmissions may raise attention for new unheard #music all over this planet's genre spectrum. Don't worry about that #GermanLanguage - it's all about the #music!

But this time it's different! It will be a Special. About Spoken Words in music. That is, because I think Xmas - among other things - should also be about listening. To each other. To stories. Or like in this case to stories told within a musical construct.
While doing my research for this, something became quite apparent: #SpokenWords in music, beside it's powerful materializations in various genres, doesn't seem to be much of a topic in music science or music journalism – despite the lasting emotional impact that all the better pieces of Spoken Words music are able to inflict.
I.e. I couldn't find a simple historical timeline here. What are the roots? I have only one hour, so I cannot provide any deep dive, just a simplified overview. The time line of this show will range from 1966 until 2025, spoken words, 40% in German language, 60% English language.
Even if you d don't speek German: This combination of words and music will give you a sense about what's going on. This may be the only "genre" in music that will carry the emotions of the words over into your soul.

    Covering music styles like

    - #WordJazz from 1966
    - #GermanRap from 2025
    - UK #RetroAcid from the 2010ths
    - #ExperimentalPop from the 80s + 90s
    - 80s #IndustrialMusic
    - #EastGerman Cassette-Underground
    - UK Trash #ElektroPunk from the 2010ths
    - German Experimental #EasyListening from the 2000s

Some of this couldn't be found on Spotify, despite being all iconic tracks. And most of those tracks happen to be my absolute all time favorits btw.

Consider this a little acoustic Xmas gift :)

If at least a bit interested in kewl unusual #music, tune in! 📻

Got questions? I'll gladly answer! Just ask here!
Playlist + manuscript after the show also here.
    CU all (?) on Saturday.

  6. Pssst!

RADIO IRRTUM! Special: Spoken Words in Music
    (on air aus Berlin)

Also: Wir hören uns doch hoffentlich alle... am Samstag? :)

  7. It maybe an unpleasant November out there - but what about some warm coziness from the inside?

I know something that may spark all that:

    RADIO IRRTUM!
    (on air from Berlin)

↓↓↓ Deutsch Version below unten ↓↓↓

    Da next issue of
    #RadioIrrtum! will air this Saturday, 2025/11/22, 8:00pm UTC+1, Berlin time. At Alex Berlin FM at 91MHz / DAB+ K7D around #Berlin + worldwide at https://www.alex-berlin.de/radio-livestream .

    Wuzit then?

#Radio Irrtum! is a German language #radioShow exploring the sonic vastness of the #underground. Emitted transmissions may raise attention for new unheard #music all over this planet's genre spectrum. Don't worry about that #GermanLanguage - it's all about the #music!
A lot of it - this time with a bit of focus on Spoken Words!

    Covering stuff like

    - lightweight musical poems
    - voice heavy
    #organPoint Pop
    - dreamy Bulgarian
    #Triphop
    - a
#Fediverse dream cooperation of #Bonkwave artists doing classic #DnB
    - playful
    #indietronic
    - #140
    #Bass full of dancy-pancy energy
    -
#IBM (the term Radio-Irrtum! uses for Intellectual Bass Music) including Spoken Words
    - Experimental
    #SpokenWords
    - less
    #experimental SpokenWords
    - dark Riot Grrrl
    #Postpunk
    - dreamy
#Downtempo #Lofi for making you smile

    Lots of
#CreativeCommons music is included and there are super cool artists from the Fediverse. Like @[email protected] + @[email protected] + @[email protected] + @[email protected] . Lots of strong women in music too. Lots wont be found on Spotify while it's all here!

Also (mostly for the German listeners I'm afraid) I will explain the organ point composition technique which is featured even in modern music (and without an organ if you are lucky).
And I will merge Johann Sebastian Bach's name into "Johannes Bach" by misstake at one point. I honestly know better! I can say this because the show is preproduced (and still I didn't catch this before uploading it to the radio station; this is bad!).

Anyway: If at least a bit interested in kewl new unusual
    #music, tune in! 📻

Got questions? I'll gladly answer! Just ask here!
Playlist + manuscript after the show also here.

Tonight will be special! Because there is a RADIO IRRTUM! special! \o/ 2023-09-30 at 8:00PM (UTC+2) at Alex Berlin/FM 91 MHz/DAB+ Ch.7D, or via stream:
    https://www.alex-berlin.de/audio/radio-livestream

The first Radio Irrtum! special in fact! About the East German
#underground until #1989. There is always weird shit in Radio Irrtum!, but nothing will prepare you for the sheer and epic weirdness happening this time. Cuz coming out of a land with absurd society rules that doesn't exist anymore, this music had an environment to grow in that doesn't exist anymore (which in itself is a good thing!). But that means, something like this won't ever happen again.

    Also it's the 1st
#RadioIrrtum! live show transmitted in 1989. Yes. Live from 1989. Because the airwaves were aimed upon the star system Altair, where they need to travel 17 light years, will be reflected & then travel back another 17 ly. So we can listen to it on Saturday night! Thx 2 @[email protected] + @[email protected] for assisting with final calculations! A successful Fediverse effort after all! :)

All that happens in German language – don't mind that - it's still a show to raise your attention for mostly unheard
#music all over the genre spectrum from that time and place.

    That means in particular:

    - Dark new wave folk
    #pop
    - IDM (shouldn't exist back then, but it did)
    #preIdm
    - experimental
    #tapeLoop #electronica with #SpokenWords on top
    -
#Industrial Music out of NVA Bunkers (!!)
    - bizarre covers of formally cheesy GDR schlagers
    #schlager
    - political + apolitical hefty
    #Punk
    - dark but melodic
#Darkwave The Cure wished they had done
    - and more

As always I'll post the playlist afterwards here (latest on Sunday). And if you have questions about the music – I'll gladly answer!

C U all tonight on shortwave radio! :)

    ↓↓↓↓↓↓ Deutscher Text ↓↓↓↓↓↓

    Pain. Dark. Altering.
