Big picture look at Washington State wildland fires.
If you zoom in then you will see the most recent fire perimeters (pink area). Click inside the perimeter and you will see a figure for GISacres. You will also see a UTC timestamp for when the infrared mapping flight happened. Subtract 7 hours to convert to local time.
The Spokane fires:
Old Trails fire - the big one.
Fairview fire - to the east.
Autumn Lane fire - to the north.
are now called the Spokane Complex.The Little Giant fire has jumped Lake Chelan and is well established on the east side of the lake.
Unless I am missing something, the Spokane fires are the first time many homes in the wildland urban interface of Washington State have been lost to a wildland fire. Maybe this will speed up the King County officials where I live (county seat - Seattle) to do evacuation planning for when a similar disaster happens here.
This is Seattle Sea Fair weekend. It was too windy in the Puget Sound area yesterday for the Blue Angles to fly. Thankful there were no fires around here.
