In one of the world's northernmost settlements, several research facilities in Ny-Ålesund on Spitsbergen are under threat from tourists' mobile devices.

Ongelofelijk, nieuw klimaatbericht van het @knmi Augustus 2024 was op #Spitsbergen liefst 5 graden warmer dan gemiddeld, het werd er af en toe 20 graden. Met heel grote afstand de warmste maand ooit gemeten. Ten gevolge daarvan smolt veel ijs, en de neerslag die viel was regen in plaats van sneeuw, wat de gletsjers extra snel donker maakt en versneld laat afsmelten.
