CW: Medical rant spironolactone, please reply
Okay, so I'm using voice to text right now and I need to stress how absolutely shit I feel. I have been off spironolactone for about 1.5 weeks at this point. For the last three to four days I have had the craziest fevers from 37-39c.
This is just a warning for anyone who is transitioning MTF who may be on spiro, that when you stop taking spiro (no matter how much) you may feel some symptoms.
2 weeks ago I tapered off at 25mg. I was having extremely bad back pain for at least a week. It seems to have subsided and has diminished now.
But I'm currently having lower back pain, crazy fevers, chills, inability to regulate temperature in a bedroom, sweating like mad.
I'm also very anxious about my stomach because I've been taking Tylenol, acetaminophen, on and off about a week, and I'm anxious about stomach ulcers or stomach bleeding.
At publishing of this post, I am laying down in bed with back pain having taken 1mg of acetaminophen. I am sweating like crazy, I am wearing wool almost everywhere on my body, and my bed has a wool topper, which is all very good for moisture abd moisture retention avoidance, but this is not sustainable.
I think in general this post is more so just a rant. I want to do a proper blog post in a bit once I actually feel good, to document my entire process, because I don't know how long this is going to last. Online I've seen reports anywhere from one week to one month, and it's already been something like 1.5 weeks off it completely, so I don't know...
If there are any transfems or individuals who are transitioning MTF who have experienced similar symptoms, please reply and let me know how long they lasted for you.
I'm extremely curious to know as I try to determine how long I will continue to be suffering. Thank you so much. -
CW: Asking for HRT DIY dosing advice, with lack of hormone level testing
HRT DOSAGES QUESTIONS:
Read the whole post before answering please!
What were your dosages when you were in the first 2-3 months of your HRT?
What were you taking, what kinds, and how were they administered?
If injected, where did you inject? Subcutaneous, intramuscular, or other?
Did you DIY, doctor, or other? Who told you how much to dose?
Did you need to make adjustments?
Was it a safe dose? There's all sorts of different opinions on what's safe levels or not.
Any other info or advice?
.....
WHAT I'VE DONE:
If I can't yet get around to hormone level testing, I can at least make a more informed guesstimate of what a safe dose is, for my own health.
I do not have hormone levels from before starting e. I tried, but should have tried earlier and harder.
I'm specifically going from 2 months on monotherapy EV injections only, to EV + spiro pills.
I've been logging exactly when & how much I've taken, & where I injected. I have been taking more than recommended, sometimes way more. I've gone back down to closer to recommended levels, but still higher than recommended.
I've seen one hormone level simulator online, but it was merely a simple "x dose every y days", no room for custom varying doses and days. There's probably some out there, that are more suited to what I'm looking for.
.....
Thanks in advance!

Holy crap, I was just discriminated against in one of the worst ways. My insurance #AnthemBlueCross has been pushing me to use their #online #pharmacy #carelonrx since I signed up. I finally got everything switched over, they filled most of my #prescriptions including #spironolactone and #progesterone but when I went to fill my #estradiol things got wonky.
The first call I made to them they just said that the processing had been delayed, but then I saw that the order was outright cancelled 1/

#Healthcare Shopping Hack for Government Subsidized Marketplace:
Utilize the filtering option to narrow down plans that specifically cover designated clinics and prescriptions. This enables you to identify a plan that includes services from locations such as your local Planned Parenthood.
Moreover, even if you’re not currently prescribed any medication, you can proactively research potential future prescriptions like #DepoEstradiol and #Spironolactone. Filter for plans that encompass these medications to ensure comprehensive coverage for your evolving healthcare needs.

The backstory is that it's a #meme that a lot of #transfeminine people love and crave #pickles. This happens because a lot of us #transition medically and take #hormonereplacementtherapy as part of that transition, and most of us get prescribed #spironolactone as a #testosterone inhibitor, which dehydrates you and makes you crave salty food.
