Auf Wunsch der Tochter gab es gestern mal wieder das grandiose #SpiritIsland. Auch für mich gehört das zu den absoluten Lieblingsspielen.
Wir spielen in der Regel auf einfachem Niveau, gewinnen auch meistens. Es gibt aber auch so dermaßen viel zu erforschen dass es trotzdem nicht langweilig wird.
Gestern sah es erst nach einer harten Niederlage aus. Strategiewechsel: lass sie bauen, wir spielen komplett auf Furcht. Es war knapp, aber es hat funktioniert. 😅

Lautapeleissä parhautta on yllätyksellisyys. Kun valmistelee voittoa pari vuoroa ja sitten tulee yllättävä tapahtuma, joka pilaa sun suunnitelman.

Seuraavaksi olisi pitänyt tapahtua Ravage, jossa valloittajat ja Dahanit (saaren alkuperäiskansa) taistelevat. We finally worked up to trying Spirit Island again, after our initial attempts ended in crushing defeat.
This time my wife played the water spirit and I played the lightning one. We aborted our first attempt after realizing that I'd forgotten that the lightning spirit can play most slow powers as fast ones, and went on to win on our second attempt.
Analysis paralysis set in near the end, but then had a laugh when a fear card wiped out most of our conundrums.

Sen jälkeen kun siirryin ns. markettipeleistä kovempiin peleihin, ei taida olla yhtään peliä mennyt oikeilla säännöillä parilla ekalla kerralla.
#SpiritIsland taitaa olla mulla ikuisesti sellainen peli, jossa tulee varmasti mokattua joku kohta.
#Wingspan sujuu jo melko hyvin. Tosin uudet lisäosat tuovat aina lisähaasteita kuten kolibrit viime pelikerroilla.
#ArkNova pitäisi ottaa kunnolla haltuun, jotta vois tarjota kunnon vastuksen.

Had a marathon Sunday 4-player spirit island board game sesh. We won, although it was a total shambles - I played Bringer of Dreams and Nightmares, which I did not know is actually incapable of killing anything. Felt useless the entire game until managing to string together a 41 fear combo to win the game.
Been playing #TheGang, #Balatro and #SpiritIsland. Musing on a coop engine building poker-like…
Deal out a shuffled deck of cards (Math it so there is enough cards for each player and flop deck to play a full hand and work through them all)
Each player accrues points based on value of hand (valuation tbd)
At point thresholds, players select perks that boost scoring.
I am hosting #SpiritIsland next Thursday, which may result in 2 games at once!
But as you can see, my brain was not great for logistics when I confirmed the date:

Auf Steam ist #SpiritIsland und seine Erweiterungen gerade reduziert. Ich spiele das sowohl am Rechner als auch am Tisch sehr gerne.
Man, the #tariffs are really screwing over the #boardgaming community. A $15 billion (2023) annual US market, circling down the drain.
It's hard to keep track of everyone with current unfulfilled #kickstarters, but anyone sitting with products in China is most likely fucked. Which means the companies behind, #SpiritIsland #Gloomhaven #Wingspan #ShadowsofBrimstone #HoMM3 #Middara etc.
I hope the community can recover, but too many indies rely on the US market to survive (economies of scale).
Another game of Spirit Island, before Jagged Earth arrives. I like this game. Although I am awful at it, I still have fun.

Verdammt! Am Wochenende haben wir noch #SpiritIsland gespielt und darüber gesprochen dass es noch eine weitere Erweiterung geben soll. Eines meiner liebsten #Brettspiele, die hätte ich blind gekauft.
Jetzt lese ich dass #GreaterThanGames (der originale Verlag) ein Opfer der aktuellen US-Politik geworden ist und die Türen schließt. 🤬

Looks like Greater Than Games—publisher of the board games Spirit Island, Sentinels of the Multiverse, and Compile—has been shuttered due to the tariff situation. While I've not played Compile, Spirit Island and Sentinels are the two games I play the most, so knowing that no further expansions will happen sucks.

Das #Brettspiel-Wochenende bei meiner Marburg-Bubble war schön 😌, ist aber leider schon wieder vorbei.
Es gab viel #SpiritIsland und u.a. Northgard, Root und 7 Wonders Duel.
Played most of a game of Spirit Island with a friend on Sunday, but only got around to finishing out the game by myself tonight. Turns out we only had to finish out the round, then start the next round to win.
The setup:
The Kingdom of Brandenburg-Prussia, Level 1
Myself: Serpent Slumbering Beneath the Island, a slow utility spirit that takes presence from other spirits to grow, eventually giving back energy, extra presence, and free major powers in return.
My friend: Breath of Darkness Down Your Spine, a fear-focused spirit that takes lone invaders to a void to generate fear.
It was quite a while since I played Spirit Island. I really like this game but I am terribly bad at it. It's a very elegant game.
I lost again, but it was nice reading the rules and re-learning them. The island got blighted within 45 minutes. The invaders exploited the island and kept on littering everywhere.
I've never managed to win the 7th wave on the #SpiritIsland "second wave" scenario.
Today I lost wave 7 against Hapsburg, but c'mon! I was on Hapsburg 6 (because the island didn't blight in the previous six games), so the first round explore > build easily leads to lands with 5 villages, which do 13 damage (passing the Hapsburg 8 damage rule).
Have any of you made it past wave 7 (playing against an adversary)? I suppose one could intentionally and repeatedly let the island blight to stay on a lower level, but that seems totally lame to me.
France and Brandenburg both seem impossible (given all the extra villages). With Sweden, I think the Dahan would be pretty much gone by wave 7. With Russia, the extra ravages would be even more painful than normal.
England 5 and 6 are already really hard, but maybe that would be the one to try next?

Nach der mittlerweile obligatorischen Runde #SpiritIsland zu dritt haben wir gestern noch #PanAm gespielt.
Ich habe das im letzten Frühjahr einmal zu viert gespielt, das hat auch zu zweit wirklich Spaß gemacht. Und ich mag die optische Aufmachung sehr.
Würde mich nicht wundern wenn das öfter auf den Tisch käme.

Das war ein kurioser Spieleabend. Erst wieder zusammen mit der dreizehnjährigen zu dritt #SpiritIsland gespielt. Bevor die Tochter sich verabschiedet hat haben wir noch #Gravitrax ausgepackt um es unserem Mitspieler zu zeigen.
Das ist nur eine Murmelbahn, aber wir haben zu zweit den Rest des Abends damit verbracht, also länger als mit dem Expertenspiel vorher. Einschließlich Zeitlupen um herauszufinden warum der Looping nicht sauber läuft... 😎
