Day 17 and finished spinning the second merino blend braid into singles. They can sit for a day before plying. Just plying & skeining (and soaking & snapping) to go. #spinning #TDF2026 #TourDeFleece #SpinnersOfMastodon

No time trial for me on day 16, just more #spinning after yesterday's rest day. I should hopefully finish this braid tomorrow, leaving me time to let it sit before plying #TDF2026 #TourDeFleece #SpinnersOfMastodon

Day 13 and making good progress on the first braid of merino blend. Happy with how much I've managed to achieve in the first two weeks of the Tour #TDF2026 #TourDeFleece #spinning #SpinnersOfMastodon

Day 12 and made a start on the first braid of merino/llama/silk (mulberry & sari) blend. Hopefully the little clumps of sari silk that I couldn't break up will get hidden in the plying. #spinning #TDF2026 #TourDeFleece #SpinnersOfMastodon

Day 11 and managed to finish off plying the mirror rainbow gradient. I'll let it sit for a couple of days before skeining, soaking and snapping it. #TDF2026 #TourDeFleece #spinning #SpinnersOfMastodon

Purple is one of my top 3 favorite colors & I love the tones in this one. It’s called Amethyst Mist and it’s available on BFL wool. This would make some gorgeous yarn!

One of the best things about using a Turkish Drop Spindle is the amazing geometric patterns.

After many years of collecting our husky's shed fur with the intention of spinning it into yarn "some day", I've finally gotten started! I'm watching videos and reading blogs to figure things out.
There's plenty of examples of "I was stuck at home during COVID lockdown and decided to pick up spinning with my spare time."
But I just came across this gem from ancient history: "My journey in handspinning began in 1998. ... I chose this medium because ... it was Y2K compliant."
