Can you believe I've never played Myst... 👀 Is that a thing I should do at some point, y/n
Anyway I got Daikon to explore Spelunx a bit with me and he was also amused and delighted, and he doesn't have the rose-tinted nostalgia goggles that I do, so imho it still holds up 👍

Seriously tho I spent so much time in all the various animator/paint programs tucked around Spelunx. I may have been exaggerating when I said I did that more than KidPix but like... it comes close. Spelunxh was the Flipnote of my generation
Oh god... nobody knows what Flipnote is anymore, either 😭😭😭

CW: FOUND IT
You can get there by clicking the torches in the room with the ladder leading up to the telescope
GOD I REMEMBER THIS AAAAAAA

I cannot for the life of me remember how to get to the room with the desk... I swear I am just going in circles in these tunnels ahaha

omg I remember playing with this animator so much, possibly even more than KidPix?? I wish there was a way to export my animation as a gif but also love that just like the old days, it's "saved" on this little floppy disk (or RAM I guess, I always thought they were floppies)

God this elevator used to give me nightmares as a kid. I already had a lot of anxiety around elevators in general, but then you have this one that seems to be leading STRAIGHT INTO THE EARTH... it was unnerving, and the sound effects were so eerily realistic (to my little kid ears anyway) that it freaked me out
It's so funny to see it again but it's like, so sunny and cheerful ahahaha

Hmmm the Steam overlay doesn't work with this one so I can't get screenshots that way... thank goodness for Greenshot
That sound effect when the door opens... I have such a visceral memory of this EXACT sound effect, it awakened something deep inside me, oh my god, it's happening, Spelunx...

#SpelunxTrying to get in more from my Steam library since I've had stuff on there forever, lol. For a long time before cloud saves became a thing it was hard to get through games. I'd tinker with my OS too hard and break it often. Now that I can set up extra library folders in a fresh Steam install and copy the old folder into it, it's easier to continue games with local only save files.
