#FediCoven 2026 Q1 - For those who have a form of divination in their practice, does this indicate to you that the universe is predestined/deterministic?

Nnnno.

I believe in a potentially infinite universe of possibilities, so tbh I view divination as seeing possible paths / outcomes, some more probable than others. Divination is more like... seeing what will prob happen if u let stuffs continue as they are. 

I think that mostly, ppl do passive divination. "What will happen with the stuffs" and they accept. Active divination more intervention-ish? Like, u do it to try to shift things. 

And yesh, I think u can. 

So, I'm a little bit of a precog. I can't control it and I don't even always know that I'm doing it, but I've had ppl ( @VulpineDruid ) catch it BC she was super confused wtf I was talking abt... until it happened.

The weirdly is that by pointing it out, the original conversation we had about the thing that hadn't happened, didn't happen, but the thing did. So tho the "future" was our conversation, and the event, we changed the future by not having the convo as part of it. 

So... no predestiny!

I'm... kind of a precognitive. For the longest time, I thought I was just imagining things, maybe having some weird deju vu, you know? It wasn't until Vul and I were together that I realized it wasnt just me imagining stuffs, or having deja vu. It's legit, I'm discussing stuffs before they happen, @VulpineDruid has seen it. Hn. Heard it I guess.

So, that's weird enough, but lately, its been happening a lot more. Time has been... odd. Some of u prob sense it. Time is looped, or locked, or slipping. And my precog has been like... low key weird. Like Deju Vu except I... know what comes next, and after, and after, and I can change it by forcing something new or pointing out that I know and changing the convo. 

If u believe in multiversal theories, maybe I'M the one slipping?  There's an unsettling thought.

I'm also studying some techniques to... I dunno, tap into whatever magic is left in this world? If I do real spell work, I'm fking burnt after, feels like a weird sick that doesnt ever quite manifest. I did some divination / oracle work Mon and Tues I was like "aaah fking tired" and kind of blaaaah / out of it. I can't rly sustain major spellwork if I can't stop burning thru my own energy that fast.

So I adhere to the…

…I don’t know school of magic.

Look, okie? I’m a new witch. As far as I knew until prob a year and a half ago, there was Wicca and Satanism and *vague hand gestures* witchy things outside of Wicca. Oh and stuff like Houdou, all that. But my point is that I don’t have a lot of experience. And I’m sort of still learning.

Even with that, tho? Im mostly finding the stuffs available today to be kind of unappealing. It can be sexist, racist, etc. It is very not me, anyway, so I’m kind of… doing my own thing.

And extra honest? I’m not rly sure most mod witches really believe in magic. They use magic as self help. Magic as meditation. Magic as a way to socialize.

That’s not me.

I view magic as the birthright of all of us, stolen by a liar god and his murder of my sisters and brothers. Something real, tangible, usable. And so, I approach magic that way. And my spellcraft is designed to fit.

So uhm, hn. I’m not here to play nice. I’m not here to ‘harm none.’ I’m here to tear through the veil, to restore the magic, and to be the karma waiting for our oppressors.

That’s me. That’s my magic.

This week I've sat down twice with my oldest child to provide formal instruction on #magick

Our first lesson was all about how "The Map is not the Territory". First we talked about what a "Map" was in context. Not just the pieces of paper with ink on them to represent geographic locations, but personal philosophies as well as our Five Senses. She was fascinated by the idea that even something like a tree we can interact with using our senses is ultimately an overlay created by the processes of our brain and nervous system.

Today we sorta double-dipped. First we reviewed the previous lesson, and then drilled down into why it is so important to understand that the Map is not the Territory. We discussed how people with different abilities, for example, may not experience the Five Senses in the same way we do. Yet both are valid. I also zeroed in on what happens when you confuse a Map for the Territory and the horrible things which happen when people insist their Map is the only Map.

As a bonus I also taught her the 4 Step Approach to #Spellcraft. We're not casting spells, but it felt relevant to teach her about this process because it explains why I'm focusing on certain fundamentals at the start. I explained each of the four steps in the process - Intent, Form, Charge, and Resolution. Then I explained the importance and role of each step, as well as identifying the most common errors in their application.

I've been having her do a basic exercise in energy work and visualization, as well. She sits and breathes while visualizing energy building up in her stomach before moving it into her hands to create a small sphere of energy. When I close my eyes and ran my hands over the area she was supposed to charge, I was pleased to feel a tingle and some warmth where it ought to be.

So far so good. We're going to build on that exercise going forward, and I will continue to instruct her on theory. I emphasized that my hope was that she would take what I teach her and continue to build on it into her own thing.

PS - universe - (#plantstodon ? ) Where's my #witchy #greenwitch ppl at? doing final plant installs in the yard and I love reading about plant properties in traditional/modern #spellcraft.

It genuinely romanticizes gardening tasks for me, which is *badly* needed mental entertainment when trying to tame the volunteer turnout in the #rainGarden. (Asters - calm the f down!!! 😆 ) Anyway I have many skeptical bones in my body but I'll read about Plant Lore All Day Long 😆
