Many thanks to The Breakcore Bugle crew for featuring my album in their monthly selection (I’m not a breakcore producer but continue to read)! I think they found out about this EP locally and organically. I love it when it happens like this especially if it is DIY because that’s very human, and because I didn’t have time to tell people about the EP but I also don’t have time and energy for that and I question most of what current music scene’s gatekeeping PR people’re doing. I’d rather like using that time for rest or for developing my learnings and tools in music like extending a Max patch etc. There is too much content and music going on and there are absolutely amazing ones to enjoy in the crowd, and I never get bored of digging that: I just don’t want to "broadcast" but bandcamp Friday is soon so why not remind the EP? Link is inside the review link. Speaking of bc friday, I’ll share a list of albums I recommend from others: basically updating my intermittent playlist. In the meantime check out the other albums this website lists if you’re into the genre: My EP is not necessarily breakcore but the point is exactly that, right? #Hypnopomp is a heckuva jam. Dynamic, loaded with creative energy. I've been following @elifyalvac's work for maybe ten years, it' all worth checking out. She's a traveler, an explorer -- literally and figuratively -- constantly broadening her horizons.

TLDR: I explain some of the technical aspects and inspirations in my fresh Hypnopomp EP for curious minds.
I can say it's Flashcore, associated with “Hangar Liquides” label: experimental avant-garde side of #speedcore/hardcore(?). But I don’t want to limit it with genres because there is so much going on with sound design.
Some tracks are based on my past microsound works that I developed with Max/MSPor other times finding my own grains/particles with DAW editing limitations. The opening track “Pyrocumulus II” is an example for this: harsh DSP kicks built onto a former track I made 10 years ago with a 4-second recording of me making a popcorn. This was in my ambient album CloudScapes where each track’s named after a rare cloud ( @c.reider, there is a track called Lenticularis also!).
#microsound #curtisroadsThen the 2nd track involves a hand-made tool that I call “Freakbox”: it generates funnyrectangular waves. With speedcore transients with FM and bitcrushed samples and saturation.

Inspirations include indeed some works from abovementioned La Peste’s label, DIY labels like Cathartic Noize Experience, Ikeda, pioneers like Xenakis and Else Marie Pade, ae's overall catalog but specifically elseq 1-5, and underground dance floors especially with Equinox (Marlon Sterling) running the #scientificwax label: Also inspiring is the way some of these figures approach music, which helps me build and develop my own further.
