This is usually told as a cute & whimsical story but as an antispeciesist vegan I think it should be told as a tragedy. We talk about "squashing" software bugs the same way we talk about exterminating real bugs, framing bugs as nothing more than a nuisance to our work when it was the original bug who lost the most.

Cockroach shouldn't be an insult, cockroaches don't choose to be cockroaches, and they are just trying to live
Unless you are allergic to them or you have residue of faeces or decaying flesh in your house (which can harbor pathogens such as ecoli or salmonella for cockroaches to spread and get blamed for) they pose little harm to you. Cockroaches do not bite or otherwise attack humans. And honestly if you're eating other animals and you get sick from pathogens on their decaying flesh thats kind of a karma moment.
Cockroaches growing in population in your house is not sustainable for you or for the cockroaches, but similar to house flies its a massive overreaction to kill them for making the mistake of wanting somewhere warm and dry to live and eat
Ultimately cockroaches do not need more irrational fear and hatred directed their way by lumping them in with fascists and racists like asmongold
