This is the third story in a row to make use of the media in the story. #SpearheadfromSpace had the tabloids looking for salacious headlines, #Silurians had an investigative journalist getting the Brigs number and #AmbassadorsofDeath has a TV anchor narrating the plot #DoctorWho

From the opening scenes in the cave we can see that #SpearheadfromSpace has misled us a little as to what the era would look like. In black and white it may not have made much difference but on my TV now it is very noticeable #DoctorWho #Silurians

With the threat ended we arrive at the new status quo (shame about the spoiler in the comic). The Doctor now has a job and a home. The TARDIS stands in the corner the last remnant of the 60's. I'm sure there were fans decrying this. RIP #DoctorWho 1963 - 1970 #SpearheadfromSpace

I'm impressed how quickly Jon Pertwee has come to own this role. He couldn't play it much more different than Troughton and yet he is owning every scene and has an instant authority. He just is the Doctor #DoctorWho #SpearheadfromSpace

This is far from the only story to do it, but we do have the conclusion being the Doctor quickly knocks up a thing in the last few minutes. It is a #DoctorWho trope but I would have liked better after the last few brilliant episodes #SpearheadfromSpace

The whole sequence with the shop window dummies coming to life is one of the best sequences in #DoctorWho I first saw in during 30 years in the TARDIS (at about 10) and actually thought it had been filmed for the documentary ☺️ #SpearheadfromSpace

The majority of this story is well directed and looks great and yet the scenes in Madame Tussaud’s don't work at all for me. Liz and the Doctor can't move more than a meter apart and yet she screams making her look more hysterical than was intended #DoctorWho #SpearheadfromSpace

"Or should I arrest you for mutiny" Again if we are getting a new UNIT series (I hope we are) then I want it to deal with the tensions between what it means to be seconded to UNIT and yet still in the British army. Its a fascinating dynamic #DoctorWho #SpearheadfromSpace

I'm sure there were queues around the street to see the new Madame Tussaud’s Civil Servant Exhibit. Replacing officials with plastic replicas is a good idea, this I'm less sure of #DoctorWho #SpearheadfromSpace

We get some nice info at the start about how the Nestene functions as a distributed intelligence. That has potential but feels like it gets lost in the mix. This feels like it needed 6 parts as ep 4 races to a conclusion #DoctorWho #SpearheadfromSpace

It creates an interesting dynamic to have UNIT relying upon the regular army. Their resources and authority are insufficient to mount large scale operations. If we are getting a new UNIT series this is something to consider including #DoctorWho #SpearheadfromSpace

I really don't get what they were going for with Sam and Meg Seeley. Is this supposed to be a comedy dynamic, I genuinely can't decide. For me they are the only element of this story that really does not work #DoctorWho #SpearheadfromSpace

Everything about the Autons, from the look to the musical effects just works from the start. I can see why RTD chose to bring them back to kick off his era #DoctorWho #SpearheadfromSpace

"Well, sometimes you can be very aggravating" I like the strained relationship between the Brigadier and Liz Shaw here. The introduction of the Doctor takes some of the tension out of this dynamic (by creating new tensions) which is a shame #DoctorWho #SpearheadfromSpace

I think the scene from the factory, that could almost be documentary footage, is one of the creepiest in the shows history #DoctorWho #SpearheadfromSpace

I get the idea of making the Doctor act oddly after the regeneration and wanting to disorient the viewer a little but all I could think was, how did the TARDIS key get in his shoe? #DoctorWho #SpearheadfromSpace

The inclusion of the press and the way this is shot makes the episode feel quite modern. I've never read Who Killed Kennedy but this is making me look forward to it even more #DoctorWho #SpearheadfromSpace

We learn a surprising amount of new stuff about the Doctor in this episode. Having only been told (conclusively) he was an alien two episodes ago we find out for the first time he has two hearts and completely different blood #DoctorWho #SpearheadfromSpace
