  1. Today I got back to restoring a pair of vintage bookshelf speakers. The foam surrounds on the drivers had aged out. Crumbly foam... much better than if it went gooey. But I digress.

    I'm at the stage where I'm cleaning off all the old foam and adhesive on the first driver. The gasket, unfortunately is likely not recoverable.

    Since it's a cosmetic piece (it's there to provide support for another foam gasket that masks the mounting screws etc) I'm thinking I'll just design a 3d printable replacement and print in a softer material, like TPU.

    We'll see how it goes. I've still got the other one of this pair to do, then I've got four more drivers to do on another pair of (massive) main speakers. If this works out for the gasket, then it'll save me time and money :)

    Oh, kinda pleased to see that Made in Canada label on the driver as well as the branding badge on the grill.
