Hi all, any Berliner (in Mitte or more Northern) in this group who'd be able to borrow me a simple two channel standard-compliant USB audio interface, that has SPDIF inputs (to USB, to Silicon Mac/computer)? Or has one for sale? Nothing fancy needed. I just want to copy around 150 DAT tapes off a Panasonic SV-3800.
(Can't believe I'd ever go back to 80s/90s digital audio tech...)

SMSL PO100 Pro
Dieser kleine Kerl bringt erstaunliche Klangverbesserungen an meinen aktiven Lautsprechern zustande. Gebe ich den Musikstream direkt per USB in die Aktivlautsprecher, ist der Sound eher mäßig. Der DDC scheint das USB Signal zu „reinigen“ und zu reclocken. Dann wird es per S/PDIF Coax oder optisch an den DAC der Lautsprecher gegeben. Das Ergebnis ist eine erstaunliche Verbesserung der Soundqualität.

Год назад я приобрёл на Авито по символической цене в 300 р. неисправный китайский девайс под названием «ЦАП 5.1 Bluetooth декодер» модели HD920Pro. Это универсальная приставка аудио, выполняющая роль mp3-плеера с USB флешки, плеера через Bluetooth (Bluetooth ресивер), звуковой карты, декодера 5.1 звука с SPDIF (коаксиала или оптики Toslink) и прочее. В данной статье я решил поделиться с читателями, пожалуй, как я считаю, необычным случаем моей ремонтной практики. Хотя, всякое может быть. Может для кого-то, кто занимается ремонтом глубже, этот случай покажется совершенно обычным.

I've learnt that #TOSLINK and S/PDIF while #digital don't provide the same bandwidth for #audio than #HDMI 1.0. It feels weird though to connect any non-video media player to my #amp through... HDMI. Is there some digital standard that basically is HDMI sans #video?
This would be especially useful since while my amp does have HDMI input it is a bit... picky and despite pass-through enabled it reduces the video quality to FHD only in a setup like [source]->[amp]->[sink]. So currently I'm splitting the HDMI into video (HDMI again) and audio (TOSLINK or S/PDIF) and feed only the latter to the amp.
I acknowledge that the difference b/w S/PDIF and HDMI audio is probably not audible to me, but it annoys me in great detail nonetheless, that there seems to be no non-video connector for digital audio on par of HDMI. I wonder when we'll be connecting computer speakers to the PC via HDMI...
