Today new #sparkplugs, #coolant refresh and #oil change - had to jack up car and put ramps underneath other way round rather than drive on to them - bumper slightly fouls ramp ( #bladibarsket ).

Also chocked rear wheels for #safety

* 95 бензин и практически всегда одна заправка
* накатано 58000 (много, знаю, как обычно лень было за ключиком заехать)

Ваше мнение, автомеханики? То, что электроды уже сильно покушало, вижу. Что ещё подскажите?

Had #MOT (compulsory #vehicle inspection) for #GolfGTI this week (first one since I got it last year)

Took slightly longer than my previous #cars - there are twin exhausts and both must be tested!

Passed with 0 advisories and very good emissions test - only 18ppm of #hydrocarbons which is very good as it means #petrol is being used as much as possible to power the engine rather than going out of exhaust unburned - just as well with price of the stuff at the moment (as well as #environment impact!)

I fitted new #sparkplugs last November, replaced the air filter and did oil service which looks like it has paid off - am going for 6 month oil changes as widely recommended for #EA888 engine ( helps keep timing chain in good condition longer)

A 3/4 (55 cm) #violin 🎻 [1] for the American chap whose posts I saw on Reddit whilst researching what was involved in changing #sparkplugs - it turns out in USA-land torque values for these are sometimes quoted in *inch*-pounds, but he got confused and ended up borrowing a ft-lbs #torquewrench, tried to put put 150 ft-lbs (203 Nm!) on a plug that should be about 150 inch-pounds (17 Nm). and wondered why the plug was still loose, and his truck was misfiring.

Luckily for him the ceramic had broken before the threads stripped in the cylinder head and the garage was able to extract the broken plug and he was back on the road.

[1] just the right size for a small child of about age 10 to play, and to suggest to the old man that using #metric units really isn't a bad idea..

Decided to take a few engine bay #photos of the #EA888 with #LumixG100D after washing my hands, so got a few bonus shots of high pressure #petrol pump and MPI (multi point #injection) extra fuel rail (there are port injectors below it which should hopefully reduce carbon buildup) - USA variants of this #engine don't get this and its been deleted from later engines (2019 onwards?) that have #GPF (gasoline/petrol particulate filter) due to WLTP requirements

Today I was still resting up, so my list is quite minimal

- I'm glad that I had the luxury of a lie-in this morning. Last night I had some muscle and nerve pain. I must have strained something last Friday/Saturday. At least more sleep before brunch helped.

- feeling more relaxed today, so I was able to mostly enjoy a slower pace. Just feeding myself and watching TV.

- an early night, as I'm still tired
