The Marias continue to delight and I keep finding songs that I'd skipped over find a new resonance. But they've also led me to Maye, Disco Bahia, RPLK, The Two Lips, Quelle Rox.

I made #vegan ‘meatballs’ for dinner last night and it reminded me of the time my friend, following a head injury, was living in Spain and somehow confused ‘albondigas’ (meatballs) for gracias (thankyou) and spent several months saying ‘meatballs’ instead of ‘thanks’. His partner found it so funny she didn’t tell him and he attributed the confused looks on people’s faces to his bad accent.
