  1. So Google is seemingly updating reCAPTCHA (the most popular bot detection method on the web since forever) to require a phone running either iOS or a Google-sanctioned Android OS.

    If you don't have a smartphone or your smartphone has stuff like GrapheneOS on it, you can't seemingly complete reCAPTCHAS anymore without jumping through hoops or by getting a separate phone for doing this.
