The effects remind me of the effects of the US leaving the WHO.
It is incredible "underrated" (weak word) and unreported (appropriately) by media as much as it has serious global impacts.

By facts China will be the leading Nation globally soon, considering at least their efforts in Science + Tec. #Spacestations #RenewableEnergy

The social shifts in societies globally with the outbreak of Covid were also not noticed, not even increasing tendencies to authoritarianism. #ConstantStress

  12. Business is looking up for space station designers
How do you design a living space where there’s no up or down? That’s one of the challenges facing Teague, a Seattle-based design and innovation firm that advises space companies such as Blue Origin, Axiom Space and Voyager Technologies on how to lay out their orbital outposts.

We will also need to be sustainable in space, you can't just call an engineer out. Imagine if your computer had a Raspberry pi 5 and this worked fine, if it develops a fault, you just remove it, and replace with a new one.

If you are on a long term space mission being able to do this is going to be essential.

There also has to be scope to recycle and repair old satellites, solar cells, gold, and other components could be reused, or eventually stripped for parts / spares.

Right to repair will therefore be essential. Imagine if a starlink satellite could be captured at end of life (rather than burning up) taken apart and upgraded on a space station, then sent on a new mission.

The #KesslerSyndrome: Crisis in Space Intensifies as Thousands of Satellites Crowd Earth Orbit

by Micah Hanks, May 8, 2025

Excerpt: "Welcome to this week’s installment of The Intelligence Brief… as #SpaceX’s Starlink constellation continues to raise the number of operational satellites in orbit, scientists are raising alarms about the growing threat of #SpaceDebris. In our analysis this week, we’ll be looking at 1) the potential onset of the Kessler Syndrome, 2) how a cascading chain reaction of orbital collisions could jeopardize #satellites, #SpaceStations, and critical infrastructure in space, and 3) what space agencies like NASA and the ESA are doing to mitigate risks through debris removal missions and stricter deorbiting guidelines, amid concerns over whether current efforts will be enough to prevent orbital chaos."

  37. This Vast space station concept seems very cool - the idea is to piggyback off of SpaceX's proven life support tech to build a simple space station in a few years. Normally I'd say a new entrant like that has little chances of success, but they have a bunch of ex-NASA and SpaceX people working with them and a funder with gobs of money. None of that guarantees success, but their plan seems reasonable even if the timeline is fast.
