Hi, ich habe mal eine Frage. Von #Fasa gibt es ein Rollenspiel mit dem Titel "1879" das im viktorianischen England angesiedelt ist. Im Gegensatz zur realen zeitline haben die Briten unbeabsichtigt ein Tor zu einer anderen Welt geöffnet. Also im weitesten Sinn sowas wie in #Space1889. Hat eine*r von Euch das System mal gespielt , geleitet oder es vielleicht gelesen?
Ich würde mal gern mehr darüber erfahren bevor ich es mir kaufe. #pnpde #rollenspiel #fasa1879

@randomwizard Just finished a short campaign last week, but wouldn't say I had much experience.

The original rulebook is chaotic in its layout making things a pain to find, and not the greatest in explaining the rules. I generally play it as a rules light system.

The actual setting background is well done and atmospheric. The rulebook is worth getting just for that.

This is 'core' material for anyone running #Space1889 and other #Steampunk games.
Good fun, but laughable in parts (just like playing a #ttrpg !), and quite faithful to the source material.

@benni Nicht wirklich. Bei #CoC oder #PPuP ist System und Settings sowieso eng verzahnt. #Space1889 legt den Focus auf das Settings, #GURPS auf das System.

Leider ist unser #SommerregenCon Besuch dieses Jahr etwas verkürzt, aber ich konnte schon an zwei sehr schönen Rollenspielrunden teilnehmen.

1. Die legendäre #WhiskyTasting #Space1889 Runde, die schon seit mehreren Jahren stattfindet.

2. Und eine sehr schicke #BladesInTheDark Runde.

I have to be honest, I have soured on the #Space1889 #ttrpg - the default assumption for campaigns seems to be that the player characters all align with some form of colonialist empire. Which gets more loathsome the more I learn about the history of real world colonialism.

Now, a campaign focusing on the heroic efforts of overthrowing the colonialist yoke might be interesting. But even then, the focus should be on the efforts of the indigenous population instead of "Mighty Whitey" human allies who fight for them because the natives are too incompetent to fight for their own freedoms.

(And, of course, similar problems are common in the #Steampunk genre as a whole...)

Yes, #UlissesSpiele is still on board the #ORC train, which means #TORGeterniity #FadingSuns and the largest classic EU fantasy #ttrpg #TheDarkEye (underperforming but present in the US) will be there, with their different mechanics. Potentially their other properties like #LandOfOG or StrangeOwl's #Space1889 (under license from Ulisses Spiele) @rwhe @Lane @Chaosium @ttrpg

I spent the afternoon reading French #GraphicNovel Castle in the Stars by Alex Alice.

Part #Miyazaki, part #Space1889, part #CastleFalkenstein, it's a story about a French scientist who, in the 1860s, discovers the existence of aether and builds a balloon/anti-gravity airship for King Ludwig of Bavaria.

It's not just that I love this sub-genre and that I love this premise, but that the artwork is incredibly, seriously, amazingly beautiful.

Auch wenn ich kein Fan von #Ulisses bin, finde ich diesen Schritt die neue ORC ins deutsche Recht zu überführen klasse. Laut der Ankündigung soll auch jedes ihrer eigenen Systeme mit einem SRD unter die ORC fallen. Ich hoffe ja das es dann auch für #Space1889 zu treffen wird, so das man ohne Probleme auch eigenes kommerzielles Material dafür veröffentlichen kann.
Gespannt bin ich such wie #pegasusspiele und #uhrwerkVerlag darauf reagieren.
